Anyone else seen this show?

It's a HBO drama that was on fox that I've finally finished watching the season of (10 eps).

Basic premise is 3% of the worlds population one day just vanish. 2 years later we follow a Police Cheif and his family through some drama. It's got a lot of questions that still aren't answered at the end of season 1.

It's nothing too exciting but I just wanted to keep watching it.

I am about 7 eps into season 1. I thought it was a very good idea for a TV show but it is very different to how I thought it would be. Very much character driven. I don't mind it though.

These TV shows, whilst interesting, never seem to take off.

It's either because the writers take it down a stupid path or they run out of material because the whole series is based off one major event. The latter only works in shows with single season stories i.e True Detective.

Though I've never seen it so I can't judge.

Weird show, watched the whole series but really don't know why. Was waiting for something to happen but it never really did.

I really enjoyed the series when I watched it as it came out in the US. Really grim, contemplative stuff. I dug that it wasn't always happy endings and light-hearted shizz.

As long as they don't go the way of Lost and forget to provide any satisfying answers, I'm on board. I don't necessarily need to know why people disappeared (that's part of the charm), but smaller questions definitely need answers somewhere down the line.

The second last episode (I think?) in the season where it showed everyone before people disappeared - how they lived, what they were doing right up to the point of the event, etc - I thought that helped get a better idea and answered a few of those questions. Why the people are the way they are now.

My two favourite episodes so far have been the ones focusing on the siblings - Christopher Ecclestone and Carrie Coon. Stellar episodes of television carried largely by two criminally underrated actors.
