For what ever its worth
I think the MRC got it spot on with the raiders players charges

I would think the club will take the plea on all of them. There is really no defence we could mount. Just have to cop it on the chin
Atleast they can feel like they got justifiable binnings (and send off) even if those tackles a week ago would have been penalised at worst.

A few cases where the decision wasn't horrible... Although i think Papalii was only a binning rather than a send off.

If these were the standard it would be acceptable. But how can they justify binning a guy trying to avoid dangerous contact when a player falls in headbutting his chest? A lottery is the only way to describe these rules. They are influencing games in a massive way aswell.

They need to bring back 5 minute binnings for these lottery decisions. So teams arent punished too severely when a guy falls over and headbutts them.

5 mins for contact where the defender had no way to avoid contact.
10 minutes for the contact where it's the defenders fault but isnt too bad.
Send off for the absolute worst tackles.

Still wouldn't like it being such a lottery. But they need to reduce the punishment on players who simply couldnt avoid the head contact.

Rubbish.

The dragons one was a borderline send off.

Last week was a shoulder charge so the circumstances are irrelevant.

Last nights was the softest one. Didn't deserve a binning but that has been a penalty for a decade now.

Ball just left his hands so not late
Falldesco is inches from being on his knees is struck low on the jaw by a player with there arm well below shoulder height and is in fact slightly crouched themselves.

Borderline send off what a joke.

I can answer for him , as per that link from above , he is aware that the studs he wears makes him slip . So yeah he is purposely putting his Health at risk as he knows he slips at tackles,

Is this a new tactic from teddy this season? He gets tackled probably 15-20 times a match, is it pure luck that he only cops 1 a match and not more? I don’t recall it being an such an issue in previous seasons.

The latte lovers are out in force, defending the indefensible which is Tedesco lowering his body in tackles giving the defender no chance. The Politis, Robbo, Fittler triumvirate protecting the Roosters is in full force.

Pity is PVL and Annesley have fallen for it and over reacted .

The International Roast sipper and his conspiracies despite his team being let off the hook last week.

Not sure why players getting penalised for hitting a falling player is resulting in such controversy on here? Perhaps because it is a roosters player?

It has been a penalty for 10 years. It shouldn't be a sin bin though.
I highlighted the part of your statement that answers your own question.

Freddy fired up deluxe earlier in the week too about Tedesco getting hit in the Parramatta game

Clearly talking with Origin on the front of his mind
Of course he was, he hasn’t got a competitive team without that bucktoothed merkin.

He has always done it. It’s a weird tick he has where he falls after passing the ball. That has morphed into falling when he tries to step in traffic. He got hit high a lot when at the tigers under these same circumstances.

He does fall an awful lot though. I get why he wears the short studs, but if he choses to continue doing that then surely it's on him not to be getting hit with his head 3 feet off the turf.

I won’t argue with that but it’ll be hard to control a fall when you don’t exactly know when you’re gonna slip.

The big problem with this new sin-bin/send off rule for high shots is that the penalty does not match the crime. I am all for eradicating head-high tackles as concussion as that can end careers. However, sending a player off alters games too drastically; why should 12 other players on a team have to be punished for their team mates indiscretion? On the contrary, I think the same outcome could be achieved by 1) suspending players for longer periods of time and 2) automatically put any incident involving contact with the head on report.

With all that being said, I'm not surprised with what has been implemented given that Peter V'landys is running the game. As is the case with all his initiatives, this edict was poorly thought out and rushed in on the basis of a knee-jerk reaction. If the Dylan Brown incident had not occurred then I guarantee that these new rules would not be in place. Ultimately, V'landys is not a good at handling these sorts of issues simply because a) he does not understand the game of rugby league and b) his personality is a little erratic when addressing problems with the game.

Will a yellow/red card system ease this a bit? Means no rash sinbinnings and puts the “offending” player on notice...

Far from ideal, but this ain’t league
