We really need someone else to step up and start scoring. Ronaldo may be on course to set all kinds of records, but he's not a machine. But at the moment not only is he the only one scoring, he's also the only one who looks to be trying to score. Everyone else is playing like Arsenal was a few seasons ago and trying to walk the ball into the net. 31 goals in 34 or 35 games...for a winger (although he is occasionally pushed up front). Ridiculous.

Saha looked quite good when he came on, hopefully he can stay fit and give us that extra push we need.

Oh, and our away fans were brilliant again. It was virtually a 90 minute rendition of the new 'Viva Ronaldo' chant, with brief interludes of his normal 'plays on the left/plays on the right' and the Rooney chant.

Ronaldo scored another brace against Bolton. The takes him to 33 goals for the season, breaking George Best's club record for a midfielder or winger of 32. What a player.

We're now three points clear of Arsenal, five ahead of Chelsea, with all of us having played 30 games. We also have a significantly better goal difference. There's massive games coming up though, first against Liverpool this weekend and later Arsenal and Chelsea.

Yeah Baby!

http://www.foxsports.com.au/story/0,8659,23454755-29437,00.html

From correspondents in Manchester, England
March 30, 2008

CRISTIANO Ronaldo continued his outstanding campaign with a goal and three assists as Manchester United cruised to victory over Aston Villa to open up a six-point gap at the head of the Premier League.

Wayne Rooney, twice, and Carlos Tevez were the players to benefit from the winger's service in a game that confirmed the scale of the task facing Arsenal and Chelsea if they are to overhaul the reigning champions.

This was the perfect response to Arsenal's impressively resilient victory at Bolton earlier in the day that appeared to revive the London club title claims.

That win meant United kicked off just three points ahead of Arsene Wenger's side and, with Chelsea set to face Middlesbrough the following day, anything less than three points would have given the three-way battle at the head of the table a new twist.

As it was Ferguson's side didn't just get the job done, they triumphed in a style that will undoubtedly suggested there is little chance of them throwing away such a commanding lead at this stage of the season.

So comfortable was this win that Ferguson could afford to make three substitutions early in the second half when his side was already leading 3-0 to ensure fresh legs for the trip to face Roma in the Champions League quarter-final first leg in the Italian capital on Tuesday.

An impressive early start from Villa suggested Martin O'Neill's side could make a contest of the game and possibly boost their own hopes of qualifying for next season's UEFA Cup.

But from the moment Ronaldo produced an impudent back-heel flick from ten yards out to divert the ball through Martin Laursen's legs and beyond Scott Carson for the 17th minute opener, United were almost completely in control.

The home side's supremacy was confirmed 12 minutes before the interval when an exhilarating move took the ball from United's right hand flank to the left and back again before Ronaldo delivered a perfectly weighted far post cross that Tevez headed home.

Villa already looked a beaten side but they did at least rally after half-time, applying a brief period of pressure and, after Rooney had missed a sitter at the other end, should have scored when substitute Shaun Maloney pulled the ball wide when clear on Tomasz Kuzsczak's goal.

But that simply stirred United back into life and it took a superb reaction save from Villa keeper Carson to divert Ronaldo's volley onto the cross bar and deny the Portugese a second goal.

That was only a brief reprieve for the visitors and within 60 seconds United had their third when Ronaldo again turned provider, flicking a long pass into the path of Rooney who rounded Carson and rolled the ball into an empty net.

And the England striker claimed his second, again courtesy of his in-form team-mate, when he collected Ronaldo's neat reverse pass and finished from close range.

Awesome match, probably the best we've played this season. Villa actually didn't play badly, in fact they were quite good at times, but we simply destroyed them. Ronaldo - Rooney - Tevez...when they click like that they are simply unstoppable.

We didn't conceed a goal in the Premier League this month.

1 - 0 over Roma, but the biggest news is Red Nev is finally back!! Played a good 15 minutes in midfield, should make the bench against le'Arse. Pique, Hargreaves, Park and Silvestre were all brilliant, we have amazing depth this season.

We play Barca next, Puyol is suspended for the first leg. Things are looking good but I'm not completely confident.

I've been worried about where Hargreaves fits in for a while. He hasn't really performed this season, and in fact has shown he can't play in a 442 unless his partner is Anderson. The one reason I haven't written him off is because I wanted to see him partner Carrick in a 4231 in the same was as Fletcher did against Roma in the 7-1 and Arsenal in the 4-0. Today we finally got to see him play there, and he was probably the MOM. Fantastic match, and he really surprised me going forward. Those crosses he put in from the right were the best and most consistent we've had since Beckham.

It really is a brilliant formation. Hargreaves and Anderson run around harrying everyone (as does Park, Tevez and Rooney if they are in the team), while Carrick just calmly sits back and picks up the scraps. If an opposition player gets past that first line of defence than Carrick uses his brilliant positioning to slow the play down and either win the ball back himself or at the very least give the others time to get back. When we bought Hargreaves everyone expected him to be the one sitting and letting Carrick get forward more, but in reality it's the exact opposite. And it worked a treat in this match.

Oh, and it was great to see Gazza and Micky back. Even if Gaz played in central midfield

Axed ref Rob Styles pays penalty

Exclusive by Darren Lewis

Controversial referee Rob Styles has been dropped to League Two this weekend after failing to award two penalties in favour of Manchester United against Blackburn.

Styles will run the derby between Shrewsbury and Chester - the first time this season he has refereed outside the top flight.

The Hampshire official ignored United's pleas for spot-kicks in their 1-1 draw at Blackburn when Wayne Rooney was brought down by Steven Reid, and when Michael Carrick's shot was handled by Brett Emerton.

Last month Styles, 44, stunned Man City fans at Birmingham by awarding a penalty against Sun Jihai when TV replays showed Gary McSheffrey had instigated a shoulder to shoulder collision outside the area.

Styles was also forced into an apology to Liverpool in August after wrongly awarding Chelsea a penalty at Anfield.

Serves him f**king right.

It would be swseet and make my season if WestHam beat Manure this weekend, although seeing Chelsea win won't make me happy but Manure not winning will make up for that :)

Although we owe a favour after last year..

Nani sent off for headbutting Neill.

Nani was f**king stupid but Lucas Neill is a f**king coward, dives over holding his face like a pussy.

Yeah he's a foolish lad, not defending him but he only did it because Lucas took an equally embarrassing dive. He struck out at Nani first and then dives because Nani (foolishly) took the bait.

I swear, if Neill wasn't an Aussie he would be right up there (in the top 3) on my most hated players list, absolute grub and a complete coward who hasn't put in any performances for West Ham, cost them the first goal and yet he is one of their top earners and captain.
