Didnt seen anything really bad out of Ben Roberts these past two weeks. In fact I thought he was pretty good.
Joseph Paulo leaves me absolutely flat. That skip and jump to the right before the defence is so deceptive NOT. Im sure the opposition giggle when they see he is playing. Surely there is better than him. Sticky finally gave Harrison a go and thats definitely been an improvement. Id keep that kid. He seemed to be in every tackle tonight. Any idea what his tally was? Hopefully Allgood replaces Joseph Paulo next week.
Gee we need some better wingers. Quite a few available that are so much better than whats available at Parra currently.
Keating? OMG. Nothing else to say.
Reni has been better these past two weeks as well but he does love the "leg pull" dosent he.
Could anyone confirm how many times Parra have given a penalty on their first defensive effort each game? Id say its awfully high. On the back foot immediately.
Better effort in the second half boys but goodness this team is so far away from an NRL team.

I don't think I've ever seen a back three offer so little at this level.

Boys against men - and that's with their first choice back 3 (4 of them prob if you include Dugan) unavailable.

Interesting you say that when you mention signing reddy would be going backwards - reddy would better then those three by a long mile. That was my point reddy on the cheap offers a lot more then our back ups

?? It doesn't. The point is he gets bagged for all his bad results (club and origin), and never gets credit for the good results.

Seriously? It's fair enough to say that people were sceptical regarding who was really running the show at Easts (when Gus was there). Since 2007 he has won 36 from 92 games at club level. His recent SoO record is 2 from 6, but granted the team played well under him. His record gives his detractors a little ammunition..........it's certainly not like he's Wayne Bennett.

Interesting stat for the game raiders made about 1500 metres and had the ball for 58% we made about 1050 and had the ball for 42%. So raiders should have scored a few more tries you would think - is this an indication our defence is slowly getting better?

Penalties 8 to 3 to raiders. Errors 13 to eels 12 to eels - pretty low for a very wet game

The defence is the only real positive to take away from the game.

I've become accustomed to losing in Canberra every time, and I expected us to get belted tonight. 14-0 isn't a bad result all things considered.

I'm not sure where people think our attack is going to come from? Unless Ben Roberts had done something miraculous, we just didn't have points in our spine.

Thought we were OK. The conditions were terrible. We need a Sio back and I'd have him and semi on the wings. I think Tonga is coming back well. Luke Kelly's kicking game was very good we just need to out more pressure in with the kick chase. Unlucky calls here and there and we were tough. Lussick is really coming along well will be a main stay in our pack for a long time. Harro is a hard worker and would be handy to have in the squad next year. I'd still move reni on even though he's had some good games of late I just think the young guys like Loko and Tanginoa are better options along with hock next year and harro.

I think the 2 tough losses will steel us for next week and the return if Sio will help out wide. But mullaney needs to go so hurry up jarryd

Didn't watch this game, went out to watch United play (first live soccer game)
Was pretty shocked when I checked the score was only 14-0. Did the raiders play badly or did we play quite well?

Both teams were fairly poor in general, but I think the weather helped with that, but we have certainly played alot worse this season. The conditions is probably the main reason for the score. We had two tries disallowed, one you could argue should have been awarded, the other wasnt a try. It was a fairly close game really.

With a bigger more powerful pack of forwards next year Kelly is going to shine at 7. Considering how much bigger and more powerful the Raiders pack is, Kelly did very well behind a pack of forwards struggling to hold back a much more superior pack of forwards. We need three more players of a gutsy NRL standard to join our squad for next year and we are a very good chance of making the 8 next year. With Kelly cementing 7 what happens with Sandow now..... 14/9???

A GF spine (my prediction)

1. Hopoate
6. Hayne this position is inevitable for Jarryd
7. Kelly we have finally found our stable smart organising half back
9. Roby (if we can get him) or someone like Peats or Cameron King

2. Sio or Semi or Takai (once he gets blooded)
3. Norman (imagine Hopoate or Semi etc etc running off Norman who is currently a slightly smaller version of Mick Cronin - maybe this is why we might not get Lafai or go after Inu)
4. Tonga
5. Morgan or Semi or Takai or see below Falou

8. Mannah
10. Mossop
11. Harrison (he has shocked me - becoming an excellent second rower) or Loko or Tangerine Dream
12. Hock
13. Lussick

14. (see 9 above) - throw in Pritchard as we continue to slowly blood him into NRL
15, 16, 17 (and other players still to be blooded) to be fought out amongst a cast of thousands....
Allgood - a thug of a player - the worst of this thig still to come..... PLEASE......
Williame - he is a promising back up center/winger/fullback - the best of him still to come - be patient, he's a goer
Junior Paulo (wow, what a player - he is almost the best (if not the best) of our junior crops coming through
Loko as a second rower - wide attacking receiver
Terepo - another awesome player - WOWWWW -
Tangerine Dream can't wait to see him play NRL again next year ---- WOWWWW
Manu Mau - am very excited to see what comes from Mau playing NRL - fingers crossed - he looks a beauty
Kenny Edwards - can his body handle the riggers of week to week NRL or will his bruised liver pack it in every second week?
Fui Fui
Fraser M - another WOWWW of a player still to be blooded - he has international written all over him
Lasalo (he will get better - I still think he is a goer - just needed more mongrel and he will find that from the best angry passionate arsehole our club has acquired since Daniel Anderson, enter Ricky Stuart).
Maafu - looking forward to seeing how he handles NRL week in week out - looks promising - fingers crossed
John Falou - still to be blooded - if he is half as good as his older brother then he could be blooded playing on the wing next year - fingers crossed
Ualesi - another WOWWW of a player - possibly not ready until 2015 - he and Junior Paulo & Pauli Pauli could become our long term bookends in a few years.
Pauli Pauli - looking forward to seeing him being blooded in the NRL for a game or two this year or next year - another promising junior who needs to put on at least another 5ks by sometime next year - fingers crossed

Norman to play in the centers where he will shine with Tonga.
Morgan to the wing with Sio and Loko to the backrow, bench or not.
Semi, might be good enough by next year to take a wing spot. I like him and he is another player we must be very patient with for the rest of this year. Let him now learn the ropes of NRL standards.

Things are seriously looking up for next years - we are serious top 8 contenders for 2014.

Tune in next month for Casper's latest updates and don't be surprised if he has thrown today's predictions in the garbage bin by then - such is the way when following the Eels.....:lol:

Thanks for that.
Quite surprised we stayed in the contest to be honest.

I thought last night was the best we've played all year. At least, I got the most out of it. I think Sandow's big problem is he can't stick to a game plan. And Kelly - though he isn't a world-beater (he's only played 20 or so first grade games) - showed last night, quite clearly, that he can stick to a plan. Continually kicking to the left wing meant that Reece Robinson got very little ball, and the Canberra fullback's chances were very limited as well.
As good as Campese is, I thought we contained him quite well, too. I think our second try was definitely a try and we were very unlucky in the first. I'd say if Hayne had been playing, we would have had an excellent chance of winning last night. We probably missed Allgood a great deal as well.
Geez, if you add Hoppoate, Norman, Hayne, Hock, Mossop, Allgood, Loko and maybe Peats to that side ............... we'll go well next year.
