From today's Australian Broadcasting Commission program Life Matters:

Dorien was speaking to Amands Smith on the today's ABC's News Radio program 'the Sports Factor.' Dorian read extracts from his book Mozart Maulers & told about his team who were a bunch of gang-tackling classical music students-fascinating stuff. I hope I can get a transcript. I certainly will be getting the book.
...Dorian Mode’s The Mozart Maulers. To introduce the reading, we spoke to Dorian about music, inspiration, anxiety and sport - without giving the entire plot away.
Dorian has suffered from anxiety and anxiety-related disorders for almost as long as he can remember. He was a musically gifted child – sensitive and slight, and bullied horribly by schoolmates. After school, he went on to study music at the Conservatorium (and now has a successful music career).
His psychiatrist suggested externalising his anxiety, and dealing with mental health problems via sport. He ended up forming a rather unlikely Rugby League team, full of musicians. He spoke about this, and the hard stuff of his self esteem and mental health, with considerable humour.

At the time he was seeing a psychiatrist who encouraged him to externalize his anger and use an alternative to drug therapy: Rugby League. Unable to convince any team to take him on, he formed his own team with other music students at the Con called The Mozart Maulers. They took on Sydney Uni and surprised everyone.
His screenplay of the story was recently green lighted to be made into a $10 million film.
