Stole this idea from another forum. This is a place where you can tell us about a gig you have just seen, and to put in news about upcoming gigs etc.

I'll kick it off and I saw John Butler Trio last night at the Hordern. OH MY f**kING GOD. One of the best concerts I have been to. They are just so tight for a new line-up, and just looked like they really, really enjoy themselves out there.

I've heard stories of John Butler being a total and utter merkin. I used to not mind his pre-zebra work tho, but since then it's all been pretty mediocre in my opinion anyway.

Im seeing Metallica in November, unsure how i feel about that, and i'll be buying no sleep till sydney tickets. Little Red, Children Collide, You Am I and Guttermouth are all coming to Wollongong over the next couple of months so will probably see a few of those shows.

Smashing Pumpkins touring in October. Tickets on sale on Thursday. The Brisbane show is at the Tivoli.. pretty small venue, should be awesome.

yeh hell last time i saw smashing pumpkins was when they came out for V Festival...2008 maybe? cant remember the year, but tbh i wasnt impressed! mostly due to the sh*t sound QOTSA were on b4 them and they were awesome. then while waiting eagerly for smashing pumpkins they had filler music and then the pumpkins came on and it sounded like they hadnt turned the filler music off. they didnt come out with a bang and that kinda lost me. hopefully they put on a better show indoors though

Hmm well I'm pretty sure Billy Corgan is the only original one left anyway... I've never seen them before so as long as they play their best songs and it's half decent I'll be happy.

Saw Cancer Bats, Bring me the Horizon and Bullet for my Valentine last week in Adelaide. Awesome gig.

Cancer Bats - spent all but 3 of their songs outside lining up to get in. Once i got in they had some great energy going on. Sabotage sounded mad, but Hail Destroyer was brilliant, great song and they went nuts. They played another show later that night too the crazy bastards.

BMTH - came on and played their new single which the crowd really got into. The sound wasn't as good as it could be and some of it sounded a bit messy. A bit of a homecoming to Adelaide for former I Killed The Prom Queen guitarist Jona Weinhoffen and he really seemed to be enjoying himeslef up there. An older couple upstairs watching must have been his parents. Track highlights were Diamonds aren't forever, The comedown and Chelsea smile. An older track I didn't was dam good too. To finish the show weinhoffen climbed up the balcony to play up there, was pretty mad. Overall i'd give them 7.5/10.

BFMV - hit the stage with the opening track off their new album "the betrayal" was huge. Their large sound tight musicianship put the way above the rest. Busted out tracks (not necessarily in order) - fever, alone, four words (to choke upon), all these things i hate (revolve around me), scream aim fire, waking the demon, among others. Had the crowd highly involved and reminded me how many good songs they have. A greaet set - 9.5/10

Well then, looks like Smashing Pumpkins in Brisbane is sold out and I missed out. Pretty f*cked seeing as I went on Ticketek on the absolute dot of 12. First time I've missed out on tickets to anything, guess now I kind of know how it feels to those people that miss out on Splendour and BDO tickets..

Guess I should have looked in to that pre-sale thing more. Oh well

I saw Powderfinger the other week, they were awsome. It was River fire that night so the fireworks and the flyby from the F1-11 made it pretty magical and the music was great. Its a shame that it will be the last time i get to see them until their 60 and do a comeback tour. I can only hope the do a Farnsey type last tour:shock:. Oh and The Vines and Operator please where alright aswell.
