This is my first season of Forum 7s. I've always been a huge poster but never stuck my nose into F7s. But when I heard about Forum 7s doing it tough I wanted to get invloved.
Anyway, the point of this thread is. Where did Forum 7s come from? What are it's origins? Who created it?
I'm very curious.
In the beginning, 2002, the founder who by many names, created Forums Sevens.
And the Forums Sevens was without form and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep.
And Tappy said, Let there be light: and there was light.
And Tappy said, Let the waters under the rleague.com be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.
And Tappy called the dry land Forum Sevens; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and Tappy saw that it was good.
And Tappy said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving forummer that hath life, and matto that may fly above the Forums Sevens in the open firmament of rleague.
And Tappy blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply.
And Tappy saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good.
But at the time he was Paul Dunn.
Then Dunny
Then Tappy
Then Northwest Rabbit.
Then he disappeared as if he had never even been there at all.
dvd, thanks for that.
Thats why I said he went by many names... just as the good book says.
Don't forget that the tree of knowledge, I tagged that on at the end. ;-)
His first ever name, however, was David Moffett.
I'll put the whole F7s story in proper English for you.
Dunny started the Sevens in early 2002 on Rleague as a way to encourage intelligent posting from the members. A user by the name Craig Field was banned because he was trying to merge teams, set up teams that became defunct and auctioned himself as a player to everyone (sounds very much like TAFKA
Robster &
ParraMatt  ). That season was a success bar the Dragqueens who didn't win a game that year. Premiers were Easts, captained by Melon who downed a classy Balmain outfit. Midway through the season Dunny got sick of the abuse, stepped down and Yakstorm became temprorary CEO. The refereeing system was completely changed from other clubs' players to Yakstorm himself.
Then the off-season came. We had the Donovan Cup pre-season tournament, convincingly won by Cronulla 8)
. Then there was the Canberra Open, a tournament that never finished and was riddled with faults, a sign of things to come. SomethingwithJohn was a Cronulla player and wanted the captaincy so he went and tried to setup his own team but failed to get players.
Then the season proper rolled on. We got through Round 1, and the match threads for Round 2 were even posted. Dunny had by then returned to the game.
Then the Super League war began. MattO went on a power trip and declared himself CEO, angering many. There was a fight between him and Yakstorm, resulting in MattO sacking Yakstorm as Co-Webmaster of Rleague before re-instating him. In the leadership spill (378937 times worse than Crean v Beazley), Dunny posted a poll on who should be CEO; him or MattO. Dunny won. There was more blood letting, then eventually one night, MattO exercised his administrative powers and nuked the Forum Sevens & Management forums. Many people were angered and that is the reason the likes of Brook and Ozzie have left Rleague.
Then Dunny took the Sevens to the ish.biz site. Zef from Rleague then set up a 'Forum Championships' there as competition, in a Forum Fives format. However, the attempt failed dismally due to lack of interest, n00bs and people realising the real competition, run by Dunny, was better. Then Dunny mysteriously left us, never to return. Mr Bulldogs and Willow, along with Ozzie took over running of the comp. The ish.biz site was hacked, everything lost, and the competition moved right here to where it is today.
