This is my first season of Forum 7s. I've always been a huge poster but never stuck my nose into F7s. But when I heard about Forum 7s doing it tough I wanted to get invloved.

Anyway, the point of this thread is. Where did Forum 7s come from? What are it's origins? Who created it?

I'm very curious.

The Lord shone a light onto the mountain of Forum.
From the earth sprung a computer.
The lord saw it's broadband connection and saw it was good.
Loyal followers sprung up from the valleys below and sung the praises of mount Forum with its mystical computer.

I really don't know.... Apparently some guy from rleague started it but buggered off into exile.

Willow and Legend know the story.

In the beginning, 2002, the founder who went by many names, created Forums Sevens.
And the Forums Sevens was without form and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep.
And Tappy said, Let there be light: and there was light.
And Tappy said, Let the waters under the rleague.com be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.
And Tappy called the dry land Forum Sevens; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and Tappy saw that it was good.
And Tappy said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving forummer that hath life, and matto that may fly above the Forums Sevens in the open firmament of rleague.
And Tappy blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply.
And Tappy saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good.

After that it the waters become muddied as the forummers are cast out of rleague for eating the fruit from the tree of knowledge.

But as you imagine, this is the good book and things are open to interpretion.

But at the time he was Paul Dunn.
Then Dunny
Then Tappy
Then Northwest Rabbit.
Then he disappeared as if he had never even been there at all.

His first ever name, however, was David Moffett.

I'll put the whole F7s story in proper English for you.

Dunny started the Sevens in early 2002 on Rleague as a way to encourage intelligent posting from the members. A user by the name Craig Field was banned because he was trying to merge teams, set up teams that became defunct and auctioned himself as a player to everyone (sounds very much like TAFKA Robster & ParraMatt  ). That season was a success bar the Dragqueens who didn't win a game that year. Premiers were Easts, captained by Melon who downed a classy Balmain outfit. Midway through the season Dunny got sick of the abuse, stepped down and Yakstorm became temprorary CEO. The refereeing system was completely changed from other clubs' players to Yakstorm himself.

Then the off-season came. We had the Donovan Cup pre-season tournament, convincingly won by Cronulla 8) :D . Then there was the Canberra Open, a tournament that never finished and was riddled with faults, a sign of things to come. SomethingwithJohn was a Cronulla player and wanted the captaincy so he went and tried to setup his own team but failed to get players.

Then the season proper rolled on. We got through Round 1, and the match threads for Round 2 were even posted. Dunny had by then returned to the game. Then the Super League war began. MattO went on a power trip and declared himself CEO, angering many. There was a fight between him and Yakstorm, resulting in MattO sacking Yakstorm as Co-Webmaster of Rleague before re-instating him. In the leadership spill (378937 times worse than Crean v Beazley), Dunny posted a poll on who should be CEO; him or MattO. Dunny won. There was more blood letting, then eventually one night, MattO exercised his administrative powers and nuked the Forum Sevens & Management forums. Many people were angered and that is the reason the likes of Brook and Ozzie have left Rleague.

Then Dunny took the Sevens to the ish.biz site. Zef from Rleague then set up a 'Forum Championships' there as competition, in a Forum Fives format. However, the attempt failed dismally due to lack of interest, n00bs and people realising the real competition, run by Dunny, was better. Then Dunny mysteriously left us, never to return. Mr Bulldogs and Willow, along with Ozzie took over running of the comp. The ish.biz site was hacked, everything lost, and the competition moved right here to where it is today.

How dissaapointing! Not one mention of the Knights Forum 7's team in any of the posts, What's doing?
Nothing of Sportsjocks' tantrums, Go Joey Go's and Iddylion's poetry, Danish Moo Cow, antonius ah the memories.
Seriously though good to see the comp is still going, Just thought I'd pop in and check it out.

You've got things a tad out of order there, the Management forum was actually deleted first, at the same time as MattO announced his takeover.

Sportsjock had been posting in the Management forum (to the annoyance of many who said it was private and he shouldn't be there) and had basically been bagging the whole idea, and obviously his complaints carried some weight because it was the first thing to go.

For much of the management team I'm sure that this was one of the most infuriating things, as despite the sometimes slow progress, the Management forum was the best and fairest way to set rules and guidelines, and the Forum 7s competition was phenomenally strong immediately before MattO stepped in, at least compared to what we have had since.

That is basically what happened, and certainly one of the major sources of annoyance.

There was also more happening behind the scenes in the mods forum - rumblings and attempts to interfere had been going on for months, at one stage an offer was made to leave the comp alone if matt was allowed to mark the newtown teams posts and my posts - this was rejected funnily enough lol

and EWS you're right I haven't left rleague in full although I did until Steve Birchall went back. I am no longer a moderator there and I confine myself to the wests tigers forum (and occasional posts in the nswrl forum), until we get some more tigers posters over here its pretty much the only place to go to talk about the tiges because those on the official site are about as big a bunch of tossers as you'll ever meet

Brook is a valued member of the Roosters side. Her efforts in trying to keep the balmain side going on WORL were tremendous - but the personal jibes that were thrown at her one day was the catylst for the bun fight to a degree. Jockstrap for a want of a better word was creating havoc with his snide remarks and obvious attempts of a take over of the h\\whole competition.

Melon pulled his team - we had two teams of strong posters right to play but when he pulled his team, I asked our players for their direction. It was voted that we stayed together come hell or high waters and follow the comp to the best of our ability.

The blood flowed and half the teams are here and the others folded despite WORL's best efforts to reform a competition. I'm afraid there are no winners - but a new start had to be made and hopefully things will only get better...

I think the way to go for next season is to not make too many teams. Unless a team can demonstrate that they will commit to playing the entire season then they shouldn't be admitted. Unfortunately, when a team goes so do most of the posters as they become disheartened. Having more than 8 teams next season would be a mistake. And at the current rate 4 teams would only survive.

I personally think the Sevens will come back bigger and better next year. It will take time but a new season and hopefully some more members ( ) will see an increased participation in the sevens.

I have faith in Willow, Ozzie and Mr Bulldogs that they will get it back to where it was int he early days.

I always knew lil Matt O was a crazy meglomaniac but I never knew he declared himself king of forum 7s and went about destroying it.

It'd be great to get F7s going well here, where he can't touch it. :p
