Hi all,

So we dont have an awards night this year....Thanks to the petulant NRL.

So, for what it is worth this is a thread for people to announce their own Dally M award winners.

I shall kick things off:

Player of the Year: Reese Wesser

Fullback: Reese Wesser
Winger: Hazim El Masri
Centre: Matt Cooper
5/8: Ben Hornby
1/2: Andrew Johns
Lock: Ben Kennedy
Second Row: Joe Galvao
Hooker: Danny Buderus
Prop: Luke Bailey
Coach: Mathew Elliot
Team: Canberra Raiders

I guess Hornby is a controversial selection, he has been a standout player though, some would argue otherwise i am sure.

I think the weakness in the selections is reflective of the fact that most of the standard star players have been injured on and off all season and have had no real form to speak of.

Most improved: Tie between Canberra & Melbourne
Most disapointing: Tie between St George, Brisbane, Warriors.

-GS.

Sorry CH you are incorrect, Hornby has played most of the season at 5/8 replacing Barrett, and had been their main attacking catalyst, running angles and poping passes to runners.

I know this well as i have a lot of time for the guy. Dont make me go to the Stats section please to prove it......Someone back me up, please? Anyone, Bueller?

Hornby has played most of the year at fullback, with Byrne and Timmins playing 5/8. Also I think you mean Rhys Wesser.

This off the subject but the topic is "peoples Dally M's". The other week we aree sitting round drinking talking bout the Dally M's and me and my mate came up with this:

The NRL keeps the awards night, they give away tickets to the general public, or they sell them for charity. Now all chairs and tables will be numbered, so they can announce the winner of the award eg: "The winner of the 2003 Dally M Player of the Year award is...... Craig Gower! Craig cannot be with us tonight, so accepting the award on his behalf is the person sitting at table 14, seat 6."

Now this person gets an actual Dally M award to keep. It works for all.

I must remid you that a few lagers had been put away before we decided this, but seriously they could have kept the awards without the players and sold the tix for charity.

No it's thanks to the RLPA & players for trying to blackmail the NRL, by saying they would boycott the Dally M's.

There's no Dally M for most improved

Certainties IMO

Wing - Meli
5/8 - Fittler
Lock - Ricketson
Prop - Bailey
Hooker - Buderus

Rookie was between Firman & Slater. I'd say Firman, but Slater wouldn't be to far behind. After those 2, there was nobody - I though C Smith was still a rookie, because his games were from the bench last year. But his 2 games he played he did start, so isn't eligibile for the award.

IMO Ben Harris has had a quite good year at the Dogs. I think he is a rookie or am I wrong :?:

He started 2 games last year so therefore ineligible. He also played 2 games from the bench last year, but they didn't affect his status.

Fair enough! I stand corrected :D

Its those stupid arse commentators they have been calling him a rookie all year. So you see I am completely without blame.
