If Sloan is put out in the cold, I would get hot under the collar. My face would be red with anger and I would have the shits to boot.

Surely we cannot go down that crooked road again. If Sloan HAS to miss out then they may as well go after the best fullback that is available rather than playing around with Lomax in that position again.

If things cannot be decided on by now as to the makeup of the 17 for this year then we have no-one in our selection panel who know what they actually want and set game plans accordingly to suit.

Any further dilly dallying around would be so upsetting to the team structure and continuity and knowing the players around themselves better.

The what ifs and buts are not with the backs, it is the front row forwards depth.

It is just being reported on Triple M that we are set to sign Cronulla Sharks winger Sione Katoa effective immediately

Not what I thought would be our first position to recruit in but Katoa is a powerful runner and finisher who adds points to the team. It would give us a wealth of riches in the backs. Yes it might put a nose out of joint but I'd have him ahead of any of our wing three quarters because he gets points on the board without fail.

Happy for our club to be ruthless.

Maybe like we approached Kotoa one season out maybe another club has to us ie a faegai, Rava ie we can not guarantee a long term contract for one of our backs and another team can ..........maybe we have done that with Kotoa?

Yes but we dont have depth past Rava & Matt Feagai. Max has also struggled injury and is a better centre. Rava is injury prone lately
Katoa is better or equal two our best wingers

but you have to shake your head at us resigning mogo ? ( who is reserve grade standard ) BUT takes up a valuable top 30 spot and now we chase another winger ( maybe better than we have) Makes you wonder who if anyone was working with flanno on list management last year . and if we are chasing this guy then it would have to be for a minimum of 2 years seeing he is still under contract for this year . we stuff around with that manly forward only for flanno to convince him to stay at the eagles , we show intrest in spencer lenieu and sit back waiting for him to come to us ... This is where are club has to be ruthless - identify and go in boots and all . But if this guy is a finisher and can produce tries then we do need him - but he wont be much good if we dont throw the ball around

I'm thinking the same redv13. There is just no way that the Sharks would let go of Katoa the winger - just no way and I don't think that this Katoa wants to even leave the Shire. He was ruled out last July due to a pectoral injury. I'm sure that Fitzgibbon would want him back in the squad for 2023.

The guy that the Bulldogs didn't want is Sione Utia-Katoa and he is a hooker. The question is, how many hookers do we need? Are we starting a brothel or something?

If you watched the Cronulla trial game they have got plenty of good backs that could come in and will be better than Katoa in a very short time

I would love it if we did get the winger and not the hooker so hopefully if they have better backs than him and they think that he has injury problems long term to want to rid him and if we have done our due diligence on his fitness then yes I'd have him.

We need forwards! Again recruitment is based on player managers hawking their clients to us and our recruitment’ team ‘ not being proactive and going out and getting what we need. In saying that , if we sign this winger ( and not the bloody hooker ) it will keep Moga where he belongs , in Reggie’s eating up cap !
