Its definitely not time to be lazy re watching more closely how our halves are playing

- everything was about metres on the left
- punching through for quick play of the balls
- Kyle continually shaping this from the left edge to middle so we were ready to attack on the right first 20mins and even majority of the second 20mins
- This gave Ben Hunt so much more time with the ball to nail the kick etc to pin Souths down and make them work
- only one long pass from Kyle to Rava on the left who is one of the best one one one or one on none at staying in and finishing...............such deliberate metres 99% to the left and attack right.

Then Tom, Bird, Lomax went to work to pin Souths down in that corner right side

We have to be able to control the game better in 2024 and this was a glimpse of one way to do it
It kept us in reach at 6 all and kept the opposition on their toes and under pressure.

But most importantly Kyle with his superior left to right passing was playing basically half back and or johnny on the spot at hooker when Lids could NOT get there. Kyle earnt us two quick play of the balls and penalties also that were very opportunistic. Not many halves can pass like he does left to right and or organise from the left side. Amone certainly could not despite being handy with going to the line.

the best part was this minimised clunky slow JDB being the link to Hunt. Much sharper faster and negated Souths being able to be offensive in their defence. So much better !!!!

Watch in that first halve the repeat sprints Kyle did to get from left to right to be ready for the next pass he delivered out wide to Hunt etc............it was tireless.........he was knackered and worked as hard as any player on the field.

Did Kyle miss one tackle? I didnt notice one. Solid.

We just need Kyle and Hunt and Sloan to keep growing together.

this is chalk and cheese re our attack.......and only the first trial game..........so either he played well and it is all down hill from here for Kyle...........or he is only just laying the platform to link with Hunt and then start to bring Sloany out the back into attack.........which they didnt even have to and still 6 all at halftime before all the changes.

It kept us flowing and within ourselves and lets be honest we blundered maybe 4 or 5 plays to the right that could have easily been tries on any given day. Clunky trial game on the right executing our right side attack but after only one game, lets see how our right side functions in execution this weekend.

I dont think after one game Kyle is the answer but he basically played halfback and allowed a very experienced Ben Hunt time with the ball to play a Melbourne pin you down in your half game plan. Force mistakes. Score on turnovers.

I liked it first half

hated the second half :)

Auntie, I didn't see the game, but man, you gave a wonderful description/assessment of what occurred. I really look forward to reading more of your assessments of games that I may not be able to see.
thank you

On another matter. I stumbled upon a highlights passage of St G SG Ball team big win against the bears, That winger Jesse Williams has genuine searing speed and looks a solid powerful player. Second try hit the afterburners and returned 70 metres for a catch and run try beating 3 or 4 opposition players. His team mates ran over to congratulate him intuitively knowing he is something special.

Apparently has scored 7 try’s in 3 games. Does anyone have insights to share about this player?

It Ain't Over Til The Fat Lady Sings - true but lately, like the last 12 years or so, I feel more like it's Groundhog Day and the fat lady is Phil's (Bill Murray's) alarm clock, singing every August and then we do it all again but unlike Phil, we learn nothing.
My favourite film of all time. There's a moment towards the third act where Rita (Andie McDowell) is trying to find the bright side of Phil's timeloop immortality, and Phil says "Gosh you're an upbeat lady". Auntie Gerald is the Rita of this forum. Perhaps like Phil we can escape

O/T: The Roosters would be the envy of most of the other leagues clubs when you have this guy wining and dining them over in L A prior to their Vegas game -

AUSSIE BILLIONAIRE GIVES ROOSTERS THE FULL HOLLYWOOD TREATMENT

The Sydney Roosters are planning to travel to the plush Bel Air $53 million estate of billionaire Afterpay founder Nick Molnar as part of the club’s build-up to the NRL season-opening double-header in Las Vegas.

Molnar, 34, was named Australia’s youngest self-made billionaire in 2022 after creating the global Afterpay empire now worth $14.76 billion.

Molnar played SG Ball at the Roosters many years ago before attending Sydney University and will host the Sydney Roosters entire travelling party including all players, coaching staff, fellow self-made billionaire chairman Nick Politis and several board members.

It’s a nice touch from Molnar to roll out the red carpet and break-up the Roosters week-long training camp in Los Angeles prior to heading to the entertainment capital of the world Las Vegas to launch the new NRL season in the historic double-header.

Would be nice to have Billionaires treat our players - nudge nudge wink wink Mr Gordon!!

What he has invested in the club in terms of money is pittance and his love of the club appears to be non existent and leaving all of the month to month meetings to his son and daughter to attend means he can stay in Bermuda lapping it all up. The Dragons, who are they??
