To me that is paying top dollar for a veteran who will hopefully see out his three years without any major injuries .

I do hope that his contract price does not hamstring the club from pursuing other desperately needed players .

NOTE ! Have only just now read ‘ Flanno’s signings ‘ thread and realize that he was on $950k at the Eels , so it has been a good outcome for both parties , however still a bit more than I would had expected .

Supposedly $950k pa 2025

Sounds like we will do
2025 $1mish
2026 $750ish
2027 750ish

but as per usual they blow dragons contract in the media

might be closer $700k for 2026 and $600k for 2027

hard to say despite him being a very good player , his longevity would be taken into account here or any other club

are you sure, if I ask you again next week will we get the same answer?
Lawd forbid ! You know how easily I am confused , now you have me thinking .

But back to Gutherson , most pleased that we have the man at the Dragons , will add much more to our attack . He , along with the experience of Cook and Holmes will settle the team down when the going gets tough in matches .

To complete the puzzle , Flanagan needs to sign a halves partner for Kyle and a tough no nonsense forward or two to put some fire back into the belly of the dragon .

Here we are still picking up dregs.
Will the penny ever drop in this development club?
We have the best jersey, the best logo and the worst everything else.
Still very proud that Bhunt is gone and now I'm already excited for 2025 regardless of recruitment.
You are obviously entitled to your opinion but I think in our current situation Gutho, Cook & Holmes is a very good start rebuilding this side after 10 yrs of neglect. I guess time will tell if these are the right decisions.

Glad to see Hunt gone and Gutho hopefully becoming our new captain- Flanno seems to want him to provide security at the back which is understandable but, imo, we then lose Sloan's x factor if he's on the wing. Gutho at 5/8 is my preference as long as Sloan continues to show the improvement in attacking the ball and defensive resolve we saw late last season.

Either way, I'm looking forward to 2025 with more anticipation than I've had for a while. Having a centre with speed and step is something we've lacked for a while and Val with have the crowd on their feet with his incisive bursts. May the signings continue (half, middles and wing) and the good times roll.

Gutho's 3 year gamble.
He is the guy that will bring consistency compared to Sloane but 3 years is a tall order for that knee.
If AD is coming too then that's enough to keep fuel in any orthopaedic surgions Ferrari for a long time.
Having said that, Gutho' ACL problems were some time ago now..2017? and it's more Meniscus stuff (wear and tear stuff).
A bit like my wallet :)

I was just thinking the same thing. Reports are we have registered our interest with his manager. Would be a great buy but he must want to play for us.
The issue with May is that he must want to play full stop!

He clearly has talent and on face value looks like a great get but he has publicly stated he lacks motivation and sometimes just couldn't be arsed.

Massive gamble in this regard...

Isn't he asking 900k?
His next contract maybe but not this one.
It was the same with Stefano Utoikamanu from the WT. He and May shouldn't be getting more that what Haas was on before he resigned...848k?
So 750k for Stefano and May sounds about right. Get some runs on the board first.
I'm sick of players being paid overs for their potential.
