It's as close as we've been to landing a decent target in many years...

But not getting too excited just yet, and dont even want to contemplate the media fallout if we manage to miss him and he stays put @ souths on unders.
Yep, I don’t like the KK offer being plastered all over the media; it’s the sort of thing a manager might push if he’s trying to get more money or years out of Souths.

Memories of the attempted AFB signing are still fresh with me. Fingers crossed!

If he stays at Souths, why would there be media fallout? That wouldn't be a fail. Generally, Players are more likely to stay at their current club.

I see everyone is excited about Keon. He is 27 I think, another year at bunnies makes him at least 28 when he comes on at year deal, meaning over 33 at the end. Makes me think…
Another season under the coaching of Bennett will prepare KK for his new role at the Dragons.

I understand it that he’s taking some time out now he’s had his knee surgery and is having quality family time. His preference is to stay at Souths talks are well advanced. We have offered him a very competitive deal as our final offer he will decide what he’s doing in the new year. I’m 80/20 that he stays with us. I do know Cam and Wayne have been in his ear.

The fact that Keaon was willing to get on a helicopter organised by Dragons to meet with Dragons about a potential transfer worth about $5 million over 5 years while being contracted to Rabbitohs has to be concerning for Rabbitohs and a strong sign that he is interested in coming to dragons in my opinion.

Obviously doesn’t mean it’s a done deal but if a dragons player that has only played for dragons did that like Toby Couchman, I’d think he’s basically gone.

Hopefully we get it done.

Agree half our battle is just getting infront of a player for that initial meeting.

We are well and truly in the fight with this one.

kKs manager is Smith

Only has a small batch of Souths players and a small batch of Sharks a few SuperLeague guys a few female league and union players and Payne Haas the big fish

no St George players are managed by Smith

we obviously have some sort of relationship with Souths after working with Souths and Braith to bring across Illias for the 2025 season

Plus we brought across Cook a year early also via Tartak

When u supposedly offer a Player a 5 year 5 mill deal u dont want it lingering in the spotlight too long
Surely he would know by now what he wants to do
Get an answer from his manager , and get it done or move on
Major rumblings continue at the Tigers with Marshalls position now under threat app from B Arthur ..
Up to 7 players inc Luai tipped to "explore else where " if Benji is shown the door
Puts us in prime position as we are one of the few Clubs with plenty of Cash and top 30 spots still available

You must not know how close we got to AFB! We had a verbal agreement all for it to come crashing down within a matter of hours.

St George Illawarra Dragons Take Bold Steps in Recruitment Strategy

2025-12-09 23:04 来源: HotPulse

In a striking move that underscores their commitment to excellence, the St George Illawarra Dragons have made headlines with their ambitious recruitment strategy under the leadership of Shane Flanagan. This bold approach aims to secure the signature of Kangaroos and South Sydney Rabbitohs forward, Keaon Koloamatangi, and it has set the stage for a transformative era for the club.

A Helicopter Pitch: Redefining Recruitment

The Dragons went above and beyond in their recruitment efforts by flying Koloamatangi from Sydney to Wollongong in a helicopter. This extravagant gesture is not just a marketing gimmick; it highlights the club's dedication to showcasing its facilities and long-term vision. According to the Sydney Morning Herald, this move signals to Koloamatangi that the Dragons are serious about revitalizing their roster.

Such a unique recruitment tactic is rare in professional sports, but it exemplifies how teams can innovate to attract top talent. By prioritizing a personalized experience, the Dragons aim to leave a lasting impression on potential signings.

A Shift in Attitude

This recruitment strategy reflects a significant shift in the Dragons' organizational culture, driven by chairman Andrew Lancaster and CEO Tim Watsford. After several seasons of unsuccessful bids for marquee players, the club recognizes the urgent need to rebuild its reputation. They are acutely aware of the perception that they are no longer viewed as a heavyweight club in the NRL.

Targeting a player of Koloamatangi's caliber, who is under contract with the Rabbitohs until 2026, marks a defining moment in their efforts to reshape the team. The Dragons are keen to reposition themselves as a desirable destination for top players, which could reinvigorate their competitive dge.

The Impact of Koloamatangi
At 26 years old, Koloamatangi is regarded as one of the premier forwards in the game. His addition to the Dragons would not only enhance the team's performance but also provide a much-needed boost in leadership and experience on the field. Should he decide to join, Koloamatangi would likely become one of the most influential players in the Dragons' lineup.
His contract status has made him one of the most sought-after names in the market, and the Dragons' aggressive approach illustrates their commitment to building a competitive roster for the future. This shift in strategy signifies a renewed hope for fans who have witnessed the club's struggles in recent years.
Conclusion: The Future is Bright for the Dragons
The St George Illawarra Dragons are no longer sitting on the sidelines in the recruitment race; they are taking bold steps to secure their future. By showcasing their ambition through unique tactics like the helicopter tour, they aim to attract top-tier talent and reshape their identity in the NRL. As they pursue Koloamatangi, the Dragons demonstrate their willingness to invest in their success.
As fans and analysts watch closely, the question remains: will this innovative approach be enough to secure Koloamatangi's signature? The Dragons' future hangs in the balance, and their actions will undoubtedly shape the narrative for seasons to come. What are your thoughts on the Dragons' recruitment strategy? Could this be the turning point for the club?

I've said before that IMO KK is the guy we need to go all-in for. I'm pleased to see that we're giving it everything we've got. If he accepts our offer I'm sure it will be the long awaited turning point for StGI.
