The Rumours Thread

O/T and not a rumour but Jai Field as well as Bevan French had great games for Wigan against the Panthers in today's World Club Championship match. The cover tackle by Field on Taylan May was a beauty and stopped what looked a certain try. Field also was involved in stopping May scoring again in the final minute of the game which was somewhat controversial.

This is what I would love to see Sloan do one day.

May be easier to sign Field

There was a recent article that French was looking to come back to the NRL
Yes that's right Musso. Here is an article to support this.

He would be a good pick up if he can be released from Wigan (currently contracted to the end of 2024 with a two year option). He definitely would be a good pick up for us but likely to return to the Eels.

Roosters will have plenty of money in the next few years to buy up lots of top footy players in league and union and there is mention that they could target Lomax - but that is from Rothfield. He says that Lomax isn't happy being on the wing which is fair enough but for the time being, Lomax should grin and bear it for the betterment of the team as a whole rather than for personal reasons.

I'm sure that Flanno isn't stuck on the idea of Lomax being a winger for all of this season but he is working on combinations and options to see how they pan out for now. I would like to see Lomax back as a centre, keep Sloan at fullback and we need a big speedy flyer on the wing so that Lomax can get back to centre and Bird the #14.

If they have all this money available, why not just keep Manu then? They must not value him at the money we are offering (on the books).

Field would be loving life in England, hes like Dufty only he also tackles.. and now he has all the trophies....

It's a bit of a shame we couldn't have kept him here, but I was commenting in another thread that it was 2017 when he ran the length in the NRL 9's, 7yrs man.. thats such a long time.. so many fullbacks have come and gone in that time.. theres atleast 2 new ones coming through every year from SG ball, that get added to the pool of JF & Reserve grade fullbacks..... plus any external recruits... and eventually only 1 bloke plays 1st grade.. 1 plays NSW Cup and so on...... and they need years to develop... so there is a huge opportunity cost given up for the ones you keep.. you have to be able to pick a winner..

Fair call mate.

I thought Jai was too timid at the time. You can't get them all right. I am very happy for him. He excelled and is now a winner. Good luck to him.

I know, I know jak. Their salary cap doesn't have any ceiling and their money pit runs deep into the abyss but it is the thing that Phroth and trouble said about Lomax that is the issue as far as I am concerned.

What a load of crap in this article, the Cowboys were singing his praises last year, and the only reason they were happy/forced to let him go was because the Dragons were gunning for their younger star 2nd rowers. So the court suspended him for a month and fined him $300, big deal. The lack of info to the club should rest with his manager. Meanwhile TPJ gets punted from the Bulldogs to pursue a career in boxing, and hello he could be back at the Broncos this year, but nothing to see here, please spare me.
