I read it this way:
1. JAC is sacked by the Bulldogs
2. JAC's manager want x $$$ for his client (naturally)
3. Flanno has his x $$$ value (atm these obviously don't meet)
4. JAC puts himself on open market (will he get a bite from anyone other than us)
5. If answer to point 4 is yes, great you guys can have him. If answer is no, then we can offer x $$$ (take it or leave it)
6. Meeting with Lancaster (the board) would be due diligence, setting out R&R's for JAC

Thanks for the updates, first step for JAC is Lancaster second is what we are prepared to pay him I dont think it will be anything near $500k the flogs are paying him. I like Gutho's passion which is what Flanno wants in the club. As for Ben Hunt he doesnt want to be with us & if he unfortunatly has to stay for 12 months it definately shouldnt be as captain, he cant spell leadership.

Think with JAC the picture will be a lot clearer after his meeting with the Dog's board next week.
Also Flanagan sounds pretty keen to find out what is happening with Gutherson at the Eels, so he can move forward with other recruitment targets for 2025.
Next month will really be crunch time as far as getting our squad sorted for 2025 is concerned.

Left field, but Hunt is exactly what Cronulla need. They need to win now. Hunt can score points and is very good in good teams. A bit like Barrett back in the day.

Swap him for Atkinson and split the contract value next year and sign him on desired deal from 2026 onwards.

The only way i could see it possibly working would be if Kennedy was dropped/ let go.

I Saints make it clear that want to get rid of Hunt, every club will be out there to undercut Saints and get Saints to pay a chuck of his salary. If Saints play the "We have no backup and need him in 2025", clubs that really want him will have to give something in return. It makes sense to make everyone feel Hunt is still "valuable" to the club. Worst case scenario, no club shows interest and Hunt has to stay the year and has to play well in order to get another contract. It is a win win for Saints.

Dolphins need experience, let them take Hunt for Katoa in return. Now that would be outstanding business. This kid looks the goods. AJ Brimson for Hunt at the Titans would be ok. AJ can play halves and is young.
