Completely understand that view, but in the modern game with 6 agains, field position is way more crucial. Kicking game has become way more important, because it is one of the only ways you can swing back momentum now. The momentum used to swing throughout just about every game at one point or another, there are a lot of games now where the momentum never shifts.

You can have all the guts in the world, but in my view in the modern game with the absurd 6-again rule, it's not enough if you aren't capable of gaining valuable field position. It is the main reason for Penrith's dominance, they play a disciplined, simple game, just about to perfection, where dominating field position is the cornerstone to it all. Guts just won't be enough at the end of the day anymore when the fatigue of being dominated in field position sets in
I agree with your points, but Penrith is a once in a lifetime team.

Flanno has inherited a number of players who's cards are marked...( Just look at some of our forwards ... they get dominated )

Baby steps...lets just be happy we have a hard nosed coach who is looking for a team of tough nuts...

I.M.H.O .. we still may be at least 2 to 3 years away...

100%. It's a game of territory and momentum these days and it requires really clever halves with good long and short kicking games - coupled with really committed defence in the opposition red zone. It's not rocket science, but it rewards quick and strategic thinking much more than it used to.

An oompa loompa doing soft mid-field bombs with an exhausted forward pack is never going to dominate.

basic logic: statistically half the population is of below average intelligence.
There is a survey that came out this year that said that the average iq of a US university undergraduate in 2024 is 102. So half of all undergrads are dumber than half of the population in the country in general? Haha. Not really that surprised.

So what does the normal curve look like on that statistic? What is the lower bound? 70? And what is the median?

Anyway, it explains a lot.

68% of the population are between 85-115. Between 55 and 70 - 16% between 115 -145 - 16% -

It demonstrates that factors other than intelligence determine access to university education in the USA. I'd be willing to bet that much more than half of the families of US uni undergrads are considerably wealthier than the average.

But ... we digress ... I genuinely believe the Red V is imbued with the DNA and spirit of past great players and passionate lifelong supporters. Current players must understand this. I believe it's obvious to people who really belong with the Dragons that Ben Hunt simply has never developed this understanding. I don't dislike the guy and wish him all the best in the future, but he just never 'got it'. I sense strongly that Flanno has 'it'. We want players who feel their heart beat harder when they pull on the Red V. This is the thing!

My wife laughs when I say things like this but I'm fair-dinkum ... I know it's true!

My point is that if 102 is the average and the curve is smooth and symmetrical, then the universities must be harboring large numbers of people in the 80-100 iq range, people who may be very nice people but who academically would not be much better than mouth breathers. More than that, there would have to be some with an iq of 70, which was once considered a hallmark of mental deficiency. But everyone nowadays has to have a degree, I suppose.

In two words, student loans. But yes, back on topic.

Interesting MS, if they are truly independent of the Storm Club, they should easily follow him to his new club... especially Greyhound Racing NSW which would be more valid if Paps was playing away from Melbourne.

I wonder which set of Storm books this info come from.
That is what is supposed to happen.

I have always believed the player-manager should organize the TPA and be independent of Clubs. Obviously, the TPA should travel with the player.

SOS is ordinary and struggled in a mediocre side
I know not available that we know of yet need a little better
Step in Wishart as we are now going hard
although I dont think there is any trade as such happening.. O'Sullivan is the man displaced if Hunt goes to Redcliffe.. not a bad guy to add to our 'trio' of halves.. not that ive watched him tbh.. but he has to be a half we could work with.. but id rather Atkinson, because he is quicker.. and given his inexperience.. he is imo playing far better than I could expect.. so I think his best is still in front.

Maybe..everyone is different in some degree on coping with the crap from todays world
Don’t blame him if it comes to that
Thats all well and good, but what did he think was going to happen when he accepted the big bucks to go to the scum as the next big thing. He was well and truly sorted out during SOO.

As I said
Not a justification for it though
There is criticism and heckling bad form and I am guilty of that too at the game and behind a keyboard
But there is other stuff more invasive or sinister that crosses the line
