Saints can now bring in Welch and Lodge if Molo is out. 2 experienced props to help the young fellas over the next year or so to develop.

What sux about this is if this Molo crap happened much earlier, Saints may have ended up with Saifiti or RCG by offering them more to join asap. They could have maybe ended up with both. How good would that have been to have those 2 big boys join the group at the expense of the Molo's.
That is not the worst outcome, Welch and Lodge. If they show some commitment. But why has Flanno kept the 30 slot free? Someone from Super Rugby? That ends in May. We were supposedly after Hugh Renton last year, from the Hurricanes.

Agree with his stance on drugs and felons but he's kidding himself regarding 'double standards'.

Clubs are accountable for results within rules dictating the number of players and how much you can spend. If a player is under performing or have a bad attitude or whatever other reason and then receives a tap on the shoulder mid contract. The onus is still on the club to ensure the same financial return to the player for the contracted period (Contribute to next contract if required)

No fan cares

But decent players who request a release to seek another opportunity, especially when no other club should be approaching said player with an opportunity, really screws the club over. Molo's timing is total bullshit for the club. Can Molo ensure we receive a player of the same quality? NO. We are left up the shit.

The idea that the player wont honour his contract then loses the respect & trust of the fans. Of course we erupt and the media knows it.

Sorry for the rant but Parker's article, apparently inspired by the Molo situation, made me see RED- without the V!

P.S. I should have waited till we know the full details but
I DIDN'T
My apologies, Hound of Dracula, I was too dry. Parker ofc said squat about Brisbane's coddling of dangerous social elements like Mann and only opens his trap when he can stir up problems for us.

The Molo case is interesting as far as how something can deteriorate at such a rapid rate.

All seemed rosy up until the Christmas/New Year break, then this.

So given the time line, Molo hasn't been back at training for 10 days, around the same time we announced our co-captains, and most probably the senior playing group.

Molo, or Molo's management have said there's no issue with Flanno.

He has been granted "leave" on compassionate grounds. With a meeting between him/management scheduled for next week, where it seems a release will he requested formally.

So, my 2c worth is:
1. Agree with Sugar, that Frank may have had a falling out with a player, or playing group.
2. He may have his "nose-out-of-joint" for not being selected in the senior group (or maybe he had and refer back to point 1)
3. As some have already said, he may gave an offer elsewhere, but who has a spot available in their top 30 at his salary range given the NRL won't register a ridiculously low contract.

Also, Lodge being offered a T&T, seemed to me like Flanno wants to try yo smooth the water with Molo first, and not burn the last top 30 spot, to which I believe he wants to keep open. If, and only, if, that Molo is granted a release we may then have a different approach to Lodge.

That's my take, and i might be light years away from the actual, but the Molo situation is looking untenable and, for whatever reason, he doesn't want to be here, then it's best to part ways, sooner than later.
Depending on what has happened it's to late to let him go at this stage of the year Flanno played hard ball with Hunt and unless we can get a swap with a club that he ends up with f**k him i can't see him throwing 600.000K away.

I'm not sure if anyone mentioning Welch has actually watched him play the last season and a half?

He has been god awful.
Yeah, Ive noticed that.

A shadow of his former self.

I’d be sifting through the strong younger fringies of other clubs looking to unearth. Especially those stuck behind quality.

If Flanno could bring that brain dead dope Fifita up to par, anything’s possible.

Legs as well thank you.

Who knows what's happened - could be a relationship breakup, family issue, a whole number of things that have brought this on. Does not make it purely a wanting to get out of the club issue - lets reserve judgement on this until more info has come out. It does however leave us short if he does leave, looks like we would go back to Lodge lol
One theory-only that- I've heard- is that it's to do with him being a senior player and being overlooked for newbies Cookie and Gutho in the captaincy ranks.

Yes he's got nothing to offer imo
Yeah, he’s broken down.

If it’s a mental thing, Flanno might be a chance of finding his inner footy player again, but if he’s expecting salary dessert, Nup.

As we all know, some players you can spend a lot of time and resources getting them into their zone and they reach out …but never get there or have a couple of good games and die down again.

Maybe not worth the effort.

Rest of the side to worry about as well.

And this is a pretty much a fresh side under construction as it is. Part of the fascination for everyone.

Flanno has to construct new strategies and tactics that exploit the attributes of the revived spine. Can’t give players tasks they can’t complete.

Would love a big gnarly forward or two to code hop into dragons jerseys but you rarely see it, those guys revel in smashing, stomping, wrestling and getting smashed, little in the way of finesse or guile, the modern version of League is like ballet compared to union, no fun for those union meatheads.

Raid the union, good thinking. But they are pussies compared to our ugly lot!

No apology required
Parker's article just made my blood boil

Wouldn't be the first time irony went over my head

I honestly thought you'd attached the wrong link :D

Last year I think OT posted

"Something fishy about tonights game"

I was watching it and couldn't figure what was fishy, the 10 meters, the penalties, the 6 agains?

I had to ask

it was the Dolphins V the Sharks - Derrrrr!

Last year at this time Corey Allan did his knee and then we had the Volkman nonsense but we were able to get Marschke, who did well. There may be some dark horse out there.

There’s going to be scores of realistic options.

Yeah, this is where you need Flannos and the brain trusts expertise in selecting the right replacement.

There’s always room for an error, but I guess we go by his previous success rate in these matters. My understanding is that he’s pretty good and we know he value adds to most players games.

If he was a bad coach and had a history of burnt players, I’d be more concerned.

I like the fact he releases the players who don’t have the heart for the club.

Builds the character for the balance of the side, the club and all the fans.

Unless you are an SGI fan or enthusiast you might miss this important observation.

It’s building the DNA up. The entitled players skulking away and flanno taking pot shots at them as they climb over the fence.

Fifita is returning from a lisfranc injury (notoriously bad healing injury) & as per the latest video on dragons social was in a black singlet compared to others in red which indicates he's still recovering (rehab), Sloan & Lawrie were in black singlets too. So he's already behind in pre-season training. He's not a genuine option early in the season.

Welch is completely cooked, can't be serious with him as a replacement for Molo...
