Definitely. They try to make too many references to current events, and I think that sometimes it is a bit over the top and hijacks the intended storyline (mind you, some of the newer episodes I have seen doesn't really seem to have one from what I've seen).
It's still amusing, but a far cry from the glory days of Season 5... now that was them at their best!
Gone are the genuine stories. For nearly the last decade every script might as well have read: Hi look it's [insert big stars name here], proceed to revolve entre episode around this. It's just lazy writing, we get it already that the Simpsons has pulling power for getting big names to do voice overs, how about their writers actually earn their pay cheque now and write something funny.
