Obviously, there are some obstacles and issues here but size of the fanbase isn't one of them. Despite the complete train wreck that the club has been since Bennett left, some statistics still suggest that the Dragons are the 3rd most supported team:
http://www.thegurgler.com/2016/01/0...d-in-2015-the-gurgler-fan-index-gfi-explains/

A lot of this is based off social media as well and most Saints fans know we are pretty terrible at that.

Surely you're not naive enough to think raw numbers make this in any way possible.

Just because the club is "well supported", doesn't mean any or all of them are actively engaged - and certainly there wouldn't be enough of them exposed to the required information to be part of it.

That's not to mention those among the fanbase who are already laughing at it.

As I said - it's admirable but it's not going to happen - and they appear to know that based on the massive reduction in buy-in after just 24 hours...

Couldn't get 10000 dragons fans to matches.l but think 10000 will pay up to this scheme?

Never go full genius guys.

I never said it was possible (as it stands). Obviously, not all fans are actively engaged all the time but as we have seen recently, many come out of the wilderness when a team is doing well.

I was simply making the point that the fanbase is there. It's not $1075 there (is any team there?) but if put in a South Sydney like predicament you would probably see at least an equal response by fans as we saw with Souths.

Wait, aren't you the one that raised the fan base question?

Why on earth would 10,000 people pay up $1,000 to allow three people they don't know have a say in their club

If you have 10,000 people - you have 9,999 different ideas about how things should be done
How on earth would they choose 4 board members? Put it to a vote of the 10,000?

You'd get 20 people happy with the 4 choices made and 9,980 asking for a f**king refund as the three Society leaders are f**king idiots

This has to be the dopiest, most infantile suggestion I have ever seen

Whoever set this up must have believed the email they got from that Nigerian Prince and are looking to recoup their losses.

I'll buy in when it gets down to $1.50, as long as I can be one of the people on the board.

Isn't green bay packers owned by the fans?

Pretty much this. If the Dragons had a larger following this *might* be an outside chance but on the current situ and size of the fanbase I cannot see it happening.
I did read your conversation. I don't think the following has anything to do with it, the Dragons have a massive following. Do I think this will happen, no. But it is not because of the size of the fan base.

Yes - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_Bay_Packers#Community_ownership

Owners can buy shares in the organisation with no one person able to buy more than 200,000 shares (4%)

Owners are allowed to vote on who they want on the board. From a board of 45 members, 7 are chosen as an Executive Committee
Board members must have particular skills such as fundraising, or organisational skills, corporate management skills etc

In short, you're only allowed to admit people to the board who bring a specialised skill and who can demonstrate they would be an asset to the board and the club they represent.

I only know one of the guys personally, and he's been pushing for change for at least 10 years. I think they are just the interim "board" rather then give us your money then we will find someone.

On the contrary. While the Dragons do have a large, what I would call latent, fanbase, I can't really see it translating to interested support. This kind of model *might* be a chance in other countries but not here in Australia.

So yes the fanbase is big but at the same time it isn't... in that you won't find enough interested people to do this. And as already mentioned, the fact the buy-in went from $1k to less than $200 tells you that they knew it as well.
