The Standard of League Journalism

Hasn't it deteriorated?

The amount of basic, factual errors is astounding. Take today's Herald and Daily Telegraph. First of all Frilingos states that Craig Wing started from the bench last week against Canterbury. He didn't. Then I open the Herald and start to read Mascord's piece. He states that Easts have made the semi finals every year since 1995. They haven't - it's every year since 1996. Then in the next paragraph he says that Easts last year broke a "17 year" drought. They didn't. It was 27 year drought.

And so far I've only read a smidgeon of the league news in today's papers?

What else did they get wrong?

Sometimes I wonder if these people actually follow the game.

These articles probably get slapped together the night before for publication without much time for error-checking. Still, you'd expect better stuff. :|
