From Parraeels.com.au Message Board - by Eelsoffice.

The Parramatta Eels are launching its own group of fanatical fans at home games this season. The group, will sit in the area to be known as "The Swamp", in the north eastern corner of the ground and willb e representing our CLub and a major sponsor at ALL times. They will attend all Eels home games dressed up in crazy Eels gear and lead the Blue and Gold Army in cheering the boys on at Parramatta Stadium.

We are looking for 50 of our craziest, loudest and most fanatical fans to be a part of The Swamp in 2004. Swamp members will receive a FREE ticket to each home game, and an outfit to wear. All you need to do in return, is cheer the boys on throughout the game, and encourage all Eels fans at the game to cheer along with you.

We are also searching for a Swamp Leader, to act as the contact between the Eels and the group. The leader must be responsible for meeting the group, distributing tickets each week, distributing and then collecting the outfits, and returning them to the Eels each week. The leader will also be the contact between the group and the event manager during the game, and be ready to lead the group in cheering the Eels on.

If you are interested in being the Swamp leader, please e-mail Trish Crews at gameday@parraeels.com.au, with the subject heading, "Swamp leader application". Interviews will be held either over the phone or in person next week.

If you would like to register your interest in being a part of the Swamp, please e-mail Trish at gameday@parraeels.com.au with your contact details. All names will be collected, and the first 50 applicants will be a part of the Swamp at the home game in Round 3. If you don't make the first game, your name will be saved, and you will be contacted later in the season and invited to participate.

Please remember that Swamp members will be an official cheersquad for the Eels, and must represent the Club and Sponsor in a responsible manner. Swamp members must abide by Stadium rules and regulations, and misbehaviour will not be tolerated.

What a bloody embarrasment !!!

Stick a rent-a-crowd in fancy dress on the Hill.
Probably will issue them a list of acceptable things to sing and clap...

" Brian Smith is the greatest coach in the world "
" All hail Denis Fitzgerald, our lives would be so empty without thee..."
" There is no problem at our club "

In the interests of efficiency, I'll pre-empt the St George Illawarra supporter who is no doubt preparing a dopey remark about Toyota Park...

Not quite.

For the record, I think this isn't a bad idea. Anything that offers the true die-hards support from their club can only be a good thing e.g. the Panthers flag-wavers who get paid to travel around and support their team.

We all know where Toyota Park is built! ;-)

I don't think its too bad of an idea either. I am quite prepared to make a fool of myself for my club if the matter so arises!

I know a few fellas that were doing this sort of thing for a Basket Ball team..
The difference was, they didn't have to dress up and they got free grog..

I'll see these 'outfits' before I offer up help, of course, they probably wouldn't be any worse than the jesters cap, jersey and occasional face paint, you should see some of the looks I get from the clowns out the front of the stadium when I stand in line with 6 year olds to get my face painted, then ask for a full face covering.

Everyone should note,as Twizzle reminds us, that you have to abide by ground rules. As I recall last year most of us would have been ruled out on this count( remember standing on seats, long rods, walking on seats, cheering too loud....etc)
