Funny things happen when we play teams that are crap all year, except when they play us.
Look at the Dogs, before us and after us, yet, when we play them, it’s their best game of the season.
Para could be likewise.
There are no easy games nowadays.

I’m trust The Tall One That Shines, will rest all relevant players and throw the youngsters in....... we hope.

I can handle us losing with youngsters.
I can’t handle us losing with broken & worn out top players.

Surprised to read that some of you think we can put out any old team and still account for Eels comfortably. I think the competition is a lot closer than that. It is nice that McGregor is very pro rep teams but it would have been smarter for him to do more to prepare some fringe players for this upcoming time. We have to play Storm the week after in Melbourne. With Smith they will probably feel confident of beating us. I just hope enough of those rep players will back up against Eels, and maybe start them from the bench.

Mary was supportive of his rep players.
Not " pro " per say.

You think he wants a depleted team ? I think not.

We will struggle big time against the Eels if we rest all rep players. But maybe that’s the way to go, allow for the loss for potential long term gain. Well an outside chance at winning the Eels game with lots of luck.

Vaughan might be right to back up if he’s off the bench again, but with RCG our he will probably start.

Potentially Lafai/Nighty could back up. LAM if he doesn’t play many minutes, but for those guys the flight back will probably hurt more than the game itself.

Lets wait and see.

If Mary’s serious about resting all the internationals I reckon it’ll be

Dufty
Garrick
Aitken
Herbert
Mann
Field
Nicholls
Ah Mau
McInnes
Latimore
Leilua
Host
Sims

Lawrie
Sele
Kerr
Robson
Ah Mau will probably be missing too.
I think Nene & Lafai could back up & I would expect Nighty to play with Mann to 5/8.Field would be most unlikely to play 5/8.

Revised team with confirmation Nene is injured.

Dufty
Herbert, Mann
Lafai, Aitken
Nicholls
Hunt
Vaughan, Lawrie
Host, Sims
Sele
McInnes

Latimore, Kerr
Leilua
Nighty

With Nene most probably out, Herbert has to come in.
Keeping Mann on the wing provides a better defensive option
Nicholls is a specialist half and 5/8
Vaughan and Lawrie to start with Latimore and Kerr on the bench. This allows 1 experienced prop with 1 inexperienced prop rather than 2 rookies at one time.
But I expect a few twists before our team is announced next week and it wouldn't surprise me to see Robson included at the expense of Kerr with Sele playing prop and Leilua to lock.

I hope we rest at least 5 players considering a 4 day turnaround.

I could swallow a loss with so much of our team out. To any just expecting to roll over the Eels, while they are going unbelievably poorly, this is the NRL. Generally any team can beat any other on their day, and if we only field half an NRL team it is not a guaranteed win.

But I feel as though a potential loss is fine compared with the alternative of burning out our players after an intense rep weekend. Added bonus of giving NRL experience to several new blokes at once

Nicholls is a specialist halfback who's game is based around game management, kicking and directing the troops. We already have that with Hunt. Putting him at 6 offers little, especially considering Mann is available. Much better off with Herbert and Nightingale on the wings. Nicholls to the bench.

I also reckon Allgood would be preferred over Kerr, who seems a bit of a plodder (moreso than Allgood, anyway).

A couple should be fine, Parra are a rabble.

While I’m here, we finally get a SOO stand alone weekend and the NRL helpfully plays the game at 8.10pm on a Sunday night.
Is it just me that we have loved to have seen a SOO game at 3pm in the afternoon.
That’s of course if the NRL was running the game and not Nine.
Apparently the game will start at 7:40pm, but I can't see that happening.

17 Field/Robson/Ford.

I liked the look of Periera in ISP and don't know out of Garrick or Herbert.

Put a line through Graham, Widdop and Ah Mau due to travel time.

Rest Laf and bring him in for MEL. I'm stuffed with 17 however, it's going be interesting game to watch.

Not a bad team but you have Lawrie listed twice (10, 15). Also Ford is ineligible as he is a development player.
