I can't see anything in your settings that may be causing this

Edit: you changed your receive email notifications for watched threads settings from YES to NO at 8.42 last night so that should have done it

I thought so, but still got some e-mails this morning. I just set up Outlook to permanently delete any e-mails from LU

Don't do that.

You're receiving emails because you are still subscribed to previous threads. I'll remove the subscriptions once you remove that rule from Outlook.

I deleted the rule. Have I unchecked the right stuff to stop automatically subscribing to threads?

The only thing you need to untick is "and receive email notifications of replies" in this screenshot:

If you've unchecked anything else related to Alerts you've gone too far.
