This season's draw?

The Jets one was just confirmed today. As usual PL lagged behind (the NSWRL don't know any other way).

I've tinkered with it and it should be released via email in the next couple of days.

Be warned it is a shocker for double headers (a lack thereof).

We follow Cronulla for most Pl matches but there are about 6 exceptions.

JBC gives us a horrendous draw with a period in the middle of 6 weeks between home matches.

Reunion Day is a stand alone PL match against Souths on 3 September.

We get to play Balmain at home twice.

And we don't get a visit to Henson this year. Two games against the Bluebags at Campbo. Dissappointed from a "good day out at the footy" point of view. Happy from a "finding it hard to get a result at Henson" point of view.

Yappy,

I was impressed with some of your little guys at the St Marys sevens on the weekend, they were very quick.

so are we not playing you at the den or do we play 3 times?

I'm expecting a crappy draw this year to make up for matts and ball finally getting a decent one

do the jets play norths at henson?

We play the Pride of Putney (BRET) twice at home and Wests twice away. That's all!We also play Canberra twice away and the Bulldogs twice at home. Other home games at Henson are Parra, Saints, Roosters, Norths, Manly, Souths. Home games against the Cougars and the Knights are transferred to Cronulla.

There are 4 double header (Newtown PL and Newtown JBC) but there are moves with Easts Junior Reps etc to get a curtain raiser to every stand alone match.

The NSWRL (I am told) said they did us "a lot of favours". WTF! yet agaons we are stuck with this silly draw where we don't lay teams at home and we don't visit certain teams (I like going to Leichhardt).

Then on top of that, they make a JBC draw giving us home games all over the shop so that we only get 4 double headers. They use the excuse that "we didn't know the PL draw at the time" but it was pretty obvious from the outset that we would follow Cronulla just like Norths would follow Melbourne). We follow Cronulla 19 out of 26 times FFS!

There will be 16 match days at Henson Park. Good bloody value for a season ticket holder but a lot of pressure on the volunteer force that drive Newtown.

So how do we rate the Jets chances in JBC?
Just looking at the draw are they the only team a direct NRL link?
Are sharks players only going to play PL?

Jets will do ewell in JBC. After the dust settles and Cronulla NRL go full strength, our JBC team will gain a lot of PL triallists and boost the squad.

There will be Jets contracted players making up a huge portion of the PL side and it will only grow with injuries.

The Jets are the only JBC team with a direct NRL link.

Yeah Bluebag, pace won't be an issue for us this year. With Miles, Reick, Crockett, Gallant, O'Donnell etc we should be able to turn breaks into tries. Borgy will be our half and as you would have seen on Saturday if he spots a gap the defence better shut it down, his broken play running has improved immensely.

Defence as always though will make or break us. We just can't seem to get it in order. Even when we were making the semis we'd often have a negative for and against.

We should have a nice pack again this season though. Sika, Sweeney and Parker give us grunt up front, DeGois continues to improve at 9 and Kouparitsas showed plenty of flair in the sevens to have high hopes for our new lock. It's the back row where we are a little thin (whereas last year we had a million of em) Patto's injury will hurt for a while as he was looking a very handy prospect in the second row and we've got Hampson, who is never going to let anyone down. Other than that though it's Flegg boys like Saffy who's supposed to be going nicely, Mannion and Pritchard. Might see Elford playing there if he's not a Tiger.

I won't make too many predictions on how the side will perform until after our trials against Parra and the Raiders. That should give us a good yardstick.

On another note - Is Brett O'Farrell with you boys this year?

No O'Farrell is not with us, yappy.

Jeffles, the Bulls are affiliated with the Bulldogs, Ourimbah with Wests and the Entrance may well be joing up with the Roosters.

We lost a double header with Wests and Ourimbah at Henson as Ourimbah did not have a home game in the first 6 rounds so we lost that one. they did not want to play before the club that is sending them players.

Fair enough. But we were still dudded. The League know we want to minimise home matches. They knew we were feeding Cronulla. It wouldn't have been unreasonable to make the assumption that our JBC home games should have followed Cronulla home games because our PL matches (when that draw was to be made) would;ve had our PL following Cronulla.

The draw is so all over the place. It's like they didn't even make any allowances for us.

I don't know about the JBC draw - but if the Premier Leage draw on the Club Website is right thats just as bad - I make it 6 weeks between matches at Henson right in the middle of the season (R15 to R 21). How the hell the club is supposed to pay its way when they do that to the fans is beyond me

That's partly from a request to have the Newcastle game moved to Ronson Field.

We at least have two JBC games in that 6 week period and they will almost certainly have some good curtain raisers (Roosters Flegg or UTS).

The draw is really lopsided in JBC. Blame the NSWRL for that one. They go 7 weeks between home games.
