This'll Worry Some Of You

I like fences, however I remember a few years ago one Criag Gower was full of petulance, bad manners and prone to temper tanties. His form was also pretty ordinary. Now!! :|

Though Gower looked like being something special in many opinions (mine also)
Bird doesnt look to be the next superstar

That maybe true Lolesi, but plenty of good football judges at the the Knights and the Sharks seem to think that Bird is a star of the future. He is ONLY 20. Some people mature as sports stars later in life. Let's wait and see. I have a sneaky suspicion that this enforced layoff might be just the medicine to fix an ego problem.

I think this is a case of bad reporting.

"Earlier, Bird's legal counsel, Jim Barnett, had told the hearing that the former schoolboy representative's actions had been "a brain snap, a moment of madness, an act of stupidity so out of character for a young man with skills who people in the know have made [a future] captain"."

Note the [a future] part. The brackets are there for a reason. The word "future" was never said!!! The quote is taken out of context. It was referring to Greg Bird being a former Captain of the Junior Kangaroos and various other junior rep sides.

After all, how the hell can you be made a "future captain"?!?
You are either the captain, or you are not the captain.

Listening to Fittler when he was an 18 year old, you wouldn't have thought he was captaincy material. He's not the most eloquent man now, but when he was eighteen he needed subtitles to be understood. Pretty much the same with Bird, except by the time he was 20 Fittler had already shown that he was going to be very good.

While I'm not a Bird fan, I thought he was starting to improve his game this year. I thought he went allright against the Dragons last year, and Manly this year. Certainly his one on one defence is better, not as much jersey grabbing.

Times running out for Bird to realise his potential.

If waltzing goes alright this weekend at 5/8 against the cowboys he may prove to be a better 5/8 than Bird and a future captain before Bird, so Birdy can be a future captain of PL

Hmmm, there is growing support for Birdy in his darkest hour . . .

Interesting.
