Thorn to return to Broncos

Former All Blacks back rower Brad Thorn will return to rugby league and the Brisbane Broncos next season.

Broncos chief executive Bruno Cullen said on Monday Thorn had signed a three-year contract with the NRL club.

Thorn is a ready-made replacement for Brisbane skipper Gorden Tallis who is expected to retire at the end of the NRL season.

This is perhaps a really stupid question, but even though he's played for the All Blacks he's still eligible for QLD in SOO, right?

Believe me, I can take it and give it. You get my back up when you start to criticise this "joint" for no apparent reason. Care to elaborate on why you dislike this joint and are close to 500 posts?

My only advice would be if you want to make loaded statements, expect a return of serve.

The rules are there are no rules.


He'll be playing for Brisbane....of course he'll be able to play for QLD and Australia. Just signing the contract means he's a lock to play for QLD!

Yes, as he played rugby union for NZ not rugby league! The rules are completely different and he is still eligible for QLD because he played his first game of league in Queensland :clap:

You have to admit that Rooster bashing has become the norm here, just like at the old rleague.com forums. Roosters are cheats, Roosters are over-rated, Roosters cheat the cap, Roosters have an unfair advantage, Brett Finch has buck teeth, the Roosters have no juniors... blah blah blah. This web site had a lot of people *in the know* who were gloating when the betting was stopped on the spoon. When it was revealed to be unfounded it was then because of a conspiracy because the Roosters were too powerful. I didn't see too many posts from blokes saying I was wrong... But then the prevailing view on this board is that the Roosters are still over the cap! It's getting old and still not one person has provided one bit of evidence to this day. Why?

As for your previous post I think that you'd even like to joke about injured players being an acheivement is out of line in my opinion, and in the general community it's on the nose too.

The Raiders did well to get within six points of the Roosters yesterday, but if you have a look at the ladder you'll find the top three or four teams deserve to be there. The drones who claim the Roosters have an unfair advantage have probably hit the nail on the head. The top teams are there because of a combination of hard work, determination, skill & luck. It's unfair because other teams accept that mediocrity is ok. That is why the Roosters got rid of Graham Murray, as nice as he seemed to be.

If blokes want to snipe at the Roosters, they too can expect a return of serve anytime they'd like. But try and bring some facts with you fellas.

LOL! That's the funniest thing I've heard all day.

Wasn't Graham Murray the one who took you to a grand final for the first time in over 10 years? I don't know the exact figure. I just think it's hilarious how Roosters supporters use that excuse as to why they sacked him as if to rationalise it to themselves and to make out that they're not the bad guys, when it was reported that they sacked him because several "key" players didn't like him and everyone pretty much knew it.

I feel sorry for Murray, he was the one who brought on the Minichiello's, the Crocker's, he brought Fitzgibbon and Morely to the Roosters, he pretty much set up the "dynasty" in the club for Stuart to come waltzing in and take all the credit.

People are entitled to their opinions Rossy and we aren't in the practice of censoring peoples views, so long as they don't break the rules.

If people claim to be in the know and are found out to be incorrect, they are the ones looking silly but you seem to take it all very personally.

After all you said, you are still here posting so it would seem you have to do some thinking Rossy.

The last two points before blah blah are factually correct though. :lol:

Snipe all you like, doesn't bother me, keeps the site ticking over but makes you look like a goose.

I guess you'd know all about it being a Raiders fan and all.

Murray brought Morley to the club and we thank him for it. As for the others it was all Beetson, excepting Fitzgibbon who came because of Gould.

Graham Murray inheritted Phil Gould's infrastructure and inside two seasons had all but dismantled the team's defensive structure. He came in late at the start of 2000 when the structure was in place. He had the whole off-season of 2001 to himself and it was all downhill from there.

When the side was getting beaten he'd front up to a press conference and say it was a good effort and we were unlucky... He lacked the killer instinct of Gould who had helped re-build the club from a shambles and Stuart who has taken it a step further.

I wish Graham Murray the best at the Cowboys, but I know who i'd rather have coaching the side. Maybe the Raiders might want to make him an offer?
