I've noticed a BUG with NRL when using Gamepads to play. I'd like to check with others before i submit this as a validated bug that occurs on other peoples PC's as well. This was the bug "Trav"was asking about earlier and i have uncovered the reason behind it.
If you play with K/B in an NRL game you can press ESC to interchange a player.
If you play with an 8 button gamepad game works fine except when you press ESC there is NO INTERCHANGE button it is greyed out.
IF during a game i start with Gamepad and then go back to K/B via join team i can interchange my players and then reassign my Gamepad. Bad thing about this is :
a) could joining affect your ability to unlock secrets as the game is assuming you are cheating or changing in some fashion.
b) Its a big hassle.
I found that on an 8 button config it assigns button "8" to pause. Of course if you configure all your buttons NRL uses all of the buttons available to perform passes, kicks, tackles etc. IF i decide to LOSE a function say no fending and use this button for PAUSE instead. This fixes the problem as i can then start a game with Gamepad and use BOTH ESC and the button i've assigned to interchange.
Unless you have more than 8 buttons gamepad or willing to lose a special move i cant see how you can get out of it as you cant assign Keyboard strokes to gamepad "buttons" i tried to allocate ESC , space bar etc
Can 8 button gamepad owners (i have Thrustmaster Digital Storm 3) assign the full range of buttons to their game and then check to see if interchange works for them? (should be greyed out)
Funny thing is if one of your players gets injured in game thats the only time the interchange screen will pop up! so you hope the player you want to swap gets creamed
