Thoughts on the Cheats game

I like the look of Ennis. Did well in first half despite his forwards giving him nothing to work with.

Where was the support play? Was badly lacking a times, and I notice that quite often when we made busts the ball carrier didn't even look for support, almost as if he knew it just wasn't going to be there.

Good game from Sims who is the new Ryles.

Nice come back. Can't afford to give away starts like that but The Dogs where on fire.

And it was great to hear the fans belting out a few tunes at 20 points down.

I didn't think Head was prominent enough for the Dragons, no half-back can do much when his team drops the pill 24x7 and loses their go forward though. HOW bad was that shot at goal ?!

I look forward to a rematch once the pre-season wobbles are gone and both teams are at full-strength

Ennis looked ok, Sims did well and Cooper played ok as for the rest, the jury is out. What's with the kicking on the 4th tackle?(espescially in the 1st half).

What tonight showed to me more than anything else is HOW BAD DO WE NEED A GOAL KICKER??????????

At one stage if we converted all our tries it would've been 30-20 with 20 mins to go, that would lift the whole team and give a whiff of getting something from the game.

I hope the i see a different team against the Storm next week.

Bulldogs won the first half 28-0.
Saints won the second half 28-18

Bulldogs too good in the first half... a powerful effort. Saints allowed them too much width just wide of the ruck.

Don't listen to Gus's and Sterlo's crap about the chip kick that was "impossible to defend against". It was quite easy to defend against... the first thing you do is stop the other mob running from dummy half... that being what got them into a position to back themselves.
The Bulldogs created their opportunities while Saints' marker defence fell in a heap.
I wonder sometimes if these commentators are watching the same game.

I got the impression that the first 40 minutes was still a trial match for a few of our forwards.

Great effort from Ennis.

Gorrell recovered well in the second half, once the forwards gave him something back.

Colin Best was out of his league. Shape up or ship out.

Daithi, couldn't you make it last night??

I didn't think the team played too badly in the second half, especially the forwards. The first half is still a worry - the team is giving away massive starts that are too hard to reel in. Ennis was a shining light as was Sims - the boy must start in Round Two. I'll know more when I actually watch the replay on Fox this arvo...

It was good to see Doust's smiling face on the big screen when we were down by 20 points...

The team didn't play to bad in my opinion, what was more embarrassing was the army, but thats for another thread.

I don't really analyse the game when I'm there. But I could see Bulldogs were just too good for us. In attack they always had players in motion & up-tempo, & combined with there great hole running & some frustrating offloads, half the time in attack we were recovering from the previous set in defence. Also easy turnovers against the Premiers is just a no-no.

We came out in the 2nd half how we should have came out in the 1st half, but as I said we weren't allowed to. 2nd half was great, we started just about how Dogs di at the beginning.

I joined the Dragon supporters in the 2nd half (seeming as though I was sitting with the mug pigs of the 'Dog' army) with another mate. The guy behind us was going crazy & it looked like his head was going to explode  Can anyone tell me who this guy is? He was wearing the jersey from the Charity Shield with a number 4 on the back
