Wests Tigers today announced the signing of three major sponsors worth more than $3.5 million, providing the club with one of the best corporate supporter bases in the NRL.

The sponsorship deals were revealed as Wests Tigers launched their plans at the SCG to celebrate 200 years of history.

All three major sponsors will feature on the new look Wests Tigers jerseys, namely the main jersey, alternate jersey, Balmain Heritage jersey and the Western Suburbs Heritage jersey.

Wests Tigers stars Brett Hodgson, Robbie Farah, Benji Marshall, Todd Payten, Chris Heighington and Bronson Harrison were on hand to model the jerseys.

Wests Tigers CEO Steve Noyce said the club is fortunate to receive strong backing from major sponsors Proton Cars, UD Trucks, and LiuGong Machinery.

“These three companies are global brands and are leaders in their traditional markets,’’ Mr Noyce said.

“The strength of the Wests Tigers brand provides these organizations with a solid platform to build their profile in the Australian market place.

“Our ability to renew naming rights sponsor in Proton Cars and sleeve sponsor in LiuGong Machinery for a further two years highlights Wests Tigers as a leader in the field of sports marketing.

“Furthermore, our partnership with UD Trucks has been increased from front of shorts sponsor in 2007 to back of jersey sponsor in 2008. The UD Trucks brand will now be seen on the Wests Tigers jersey for the next three years.

“The success of the Wests Tigers merchandise program, combined with the club attracting the highest average crowds in NSW in 2007, will give these three companies even more exposure and leverage.

“Wests Tigers matches were watched by more than 15 million viewers this year, further highlighting the value to these brands.’’

Proton Cars Australia Managing Director John Startari said his company has enjoyed a rewarding partnership with Wests Tigers.

“The association with Wests Tigers has once again provided a strong platform for brand recognition and extended exposure to a core audience that would not otherwise be possible,’’ Mr Startari said.

“We look forward to continuing our association and building on the strong foundations that have been created over the past two years.’’

Shannon Taylor, National Marketing Manager of UD Trucks, said the company was re-establishing itself in the market place through its association with Wests Tigers.

“Our company will be seen by millions of viewers each week through television and print coverage due to the tremendous amount of media exposure the Wests Tigers receive,’’ Mr Taylor said.

“UD Trucks is an exciting brand with an exciting future, similar to the way the Wests Tigers play their game. Our competition is a fierce one, just like the NRL, but together, both organizations will come out on top.’’

Denis Robson, Managing Director of LiuGong Machinery Australia, highlighted the enormous benefits of being involved with Wests Tigers.

“LiuGong, as a global company, are entering their 50th year of operation and take great inspiration from Wests Tigers players and coaching staff,’’ Mr Robson said.

“We are not the biggest organisation, but like Wests Tigers, we find unique ways in which to perform in business as Wests Tigers find unique ways to perform on the field against bigger opposition.’’
