When we go to 9 games:
Thursday night game (free entry subsidised by TV $'s) 7pm KO FTA
Friday night 2 games 7.30pm KO, one on live FTA both on live PTV
Saturday 3 games 2pm 4pm 6.30pm PTV (2pm game to be in NZ alternate weeks)
Sunday 3 games 2pm (PTV) 4pm (FTA) 6pm (PTV) (Perth game alternate weeks for afternoon KO in the West)

That would be the ideal

best scenario indeed

Saturday & Sunday games have to start after lunch, 2-5pm is best time to be watching football, you get good crowds because Family's more likely attend which help the clubs financially as well as more visually appealing on TV.

I could handle Thursday night game instead of 6pm Friday - it would bring back FNF to be the marquee fixture - just if the NRL can predict that game to be the game of the round every round - then we're laughing :)
I go one better than that they all should start at 15:00 like they did in the old days...and let the viewership of Kayo and Foxtel allow the people to view the game they want...

Broadcasters would probably put up a stink, especially the FTA broadcaster as they'd be more concerned about the split viewership with them only carrying one game whilst Foxtel has another game on at the same time.

Not saying its right, just predicting what I think would happen based on recent history.

I agree with most not liking Thurs or Monday night football. I think Mondays were better as it was an earlier start. Not sure why C9 can't start their games closer to 730.
I'd only play Thursday Night the day before a PHol but also where there is a PHol on the Monday there should be a Sunday Night game. I think that with the weekend gone a Sunday night game at 7pm would have rated better than the Thursday game.

Wouldn't matter to Fox/Kayo as they are getting the subscription no matter how many are watching games at same time. FTA wouldn't be happy but they are a dodo on the way out anyway. I look forward to the day that all games are on streaming only and we have 2-3 games being played at the same time with viewers choice. Kids now a days dont have the attention to sit through all 8 or 9 games a weekend and I suspect the minis on Kayo are as popular as the main games.

Thursday night is usually an awful game , should be 2 fri / 3 sat / 3 sun

Reason it has often been an awful game is Channel 9 has had the most input into what game is selected. They select games solely based on particular clubs (e.g. Broncos), and not on expected form.

I don't think thats true, why would you pay the current subscription fees for just 1 game? In turn, why would Fox pay what they currently pay for 1 window? They maybe subscription based, but they still generate ad revenue.

Look at European soccer which is almost exclusively on pay TV, a typical weekend in the top flight:

Germany: 5 broadcast windows for 9 games
Italy: 7-8 broadcast window for 10 games
France: 7 broadcast windows for 10 games
Spain: 10 broadcast windows for 10 games (guess the kids in Spain have attention)
England: 4-5 broadcast windows (plus the 3 pm blackout) for 10 games

Live sports is what drives viewership, and a network is going to want to show however much they need to show to maximize profits. If watchnrl charged what they currently do but only gave me one game, I wouldn't even bother.

You seem to have misconstrued my suggestion. I pay my kayo subscription but dont care if every game is live as I dont watch them all live. I’m quite happy to have two games being played at same time and watching one live that I choose and one later on replay or in a mini. Kayo losses nothing by screening numerous games live at the same time,

But thats just your preference. The current schedule allows for a broad range of view perference from watching 1 match to watching all 8 live and anything in between. The far extreme of that is to air all matches at the same time, which I imagine would reduce the amount of subscribers willing to pay the current subscription fee.

As I said, I pay ~140 a year for watchNRL, will the draw being I can get all 8 matches live, now I live on the east coast of the US so watching all 8 isn't feasible but the option is there (right now I try to get up early for the Thurs and Fri games, and stay up late for the first Saturday game). But if that app was to only allow me to watch 1 match live per week, I woudln't pay that amount for it. Watching non-live matches aren't really my preference.

Its not just about my preference, its the way society is going, particularly the younger generations, with their viewing habits. Its also about the game growing without adding more sht fan KO times and how to maximise attendances. No one is saying one match live per week! Just not every game live stand alone ie where possible two games live at same time with viewers then being able to decide which they prefer to watch. Looking at viewing NRL figures on Fox and Kayo v number of subscribers it appears there's a lot of people who do not watch every game live. For example Super Saturday could be 5 games on PTV with them all live but two slots simucast with two games in each and one stand alone.

You may not be saying one live match per week, but you responded positively to a post about all games kicking off at the same time, saying Fox or any other paid TV wouldn't care. I think they would vary much care about having, bc if they didnt, why isn't Fox currently overlapping their exclusive games now?

One of Fox League big selling points is being able to watch every game of every round live and ad free. Saying "watch up 3 games live and ad free on Fox League, and the rest on demand" doesn't have the same ring to it.

And I find it funny how people constantly blame "todays kids" for the need to change viewing habits, when the number one demographic sought for is males between the ages of 18-49. So if broadcaster's are having to change how they present because of lack of attention span in the modern day viewer, its not little 10 year old Timmy's fault, its his 42 year old dad who can't be away from his iphone for more than 10 minutes.

That won't happen unless the FTA broadcaster is willing to pay a lot more money to televise those additional games. Foxtel pay a lot more money than the FTA broadcasters do to the NRL. I doubt they would be willing to pay the same amount for a "simulcast" on games they previously had as exclusives.
