With the rumours Im hearing Its possible that Thurston and a few others have played their last game in the NRL. Im told this will all unfold this week. Please note this is just a rumour and is NOT from a reliable source but as the saying goes, where theres smoke theres fire.

Haha, mate you are about a week out of date.

Those "rumours" are all BS.
The text message rumors are BS regarding betting, well to the extent of what the message was. (I hope)

That was not the info I got, has more to do with Cowboys thinking they have lost control of the players, and are thinking about releasing Thurston to get it back. Gus is heading there soon to help with the review, and then a decision will be made.

Thurston has just signed a large deal, so the Cowboys will need to recoup cost. GC may offer the same money they offered Inglis. With a similar Fogs third party deal, after Rogers retirement and they may lose another large signing ( lafrancri) they can afford him.

So your source is Rebecca Wilson (who wrote this about 2 weeks ago). Not one other journo has mentioned it since.

How is the Titans spending $700K on Thurston, "re-couping" cost for the Cowboys?

For better or worse the Cowboys knew what they were getting in JT when the signed him up 3 months ago, are to expect that in just that time they have totally done an about face?

I think you placing to much faith in Wilson.

Can't see it happening. Bennett is looking to coach the cowboys in 2012 and will want thurston in the side. Titans are o.k. in the halves next year anyway - prince and capewell will be strong throughout!

What about Ben Jones? He's still pretty young and very raw, but there isn't really a spot for him at the Roosters anymore since we signed Watts and still have Aubusson on our books. He is a Queenslander and might be looking to establish his spot as a first grader. He'd at least be a good depth signing and a potential replacement for Friend or Prince. Wouldn't take up much of the cap either. He has a tonne of talent and would be a great 5/8 or hooker given the right guidance and time.
