Tigers for the title!!!

I have followed the Tigers since 1988. Since 1989, there have been only two years where I have believed that we have enough ammunition to win the premiership.
First time was one Sunday afternoon at Shark Park in 2005. After that game, I was confident that we had what it takes to win the comp.
Second time is today against the Eels. That was not our best game today, yet we have so many ways to break a defensive line. Most of the team is in very good form at the moment and we have the best gamebreaker in the world in career-best form. Like 2005, Benji is doing it week-in and week-out.
Our forwards are as mobile, skilled and tough as in 2005. We have the best back-row going round at the moment. Fulton is in awesome touch, Ellis (did not play today) is class and Heighno is Mr Consistient.
Come to think of it, bar Farah, Utai and Ellis (who are all going well), I cannot think of one key tiger who is not in career-best form at the moment.

We need Tuqiri, Lawrence and Ellis back and in form before getting excited but we can do it. Luck will be needed as we need to avoid melb, brisbane & warriors away from home in the finals

A lot will depend on how things fall in the finals. A prelim away against Melbourne or Brisbane would be very tough to win, but an 'away' prelim against Manly will certainly be winnable, followed by Melbourne or Brisbane in the grand final. Our first finals game (whoever it is against) will be crucial. If we lost that we could be heading to Townsville or Aukland.

I actually thought the best we've ever looked was last year. A bit of luck in the Roosters game (Like just one of Ellis' 3 crossings being awarded) and we'd have pumped them and walked the GF, I think. We should have beaten the Dragons. Even with the team completely buggered a few tiny things like Payten not going down, or Farah not losing form, and we'd have done it anyway.

They're playing better......but is it good enough to really give the title a shake? Probably not. They need to be firing another level above than where they are currently at. They need to do what the other heavy hitters are doing........punish teams, put them to the sword and don't give the opposition any opportunities through stupid penalties or poor turnovers.

I am still extremely happy that they have improved. Early on in the season it seemed a disaster in the making.

There are a lot of ifs in my opinion:-

1. Ellis, Lote & Lawrence come back and get into top form.
2. Moltzen stays at 1 and keeps playing well.
3. Farah plays like he did today - i.e. controlled and no dumb plays.
4. Benji stays on fire.
5. Lui gets into form.

Obviously we can win without some of those things going our way but it makes a big difference if they all go our way.

Utai is also a worry but I think we can carry some of his spastic moments when you add to it his hard running.
