Tigers Marketing Department

Its 3 weeks to the start of the season and the member count is 6386. still 3614 odd short of the target 10,000. I think the marketing department at the tigers have been sitting on thier hands a bit.

Over the last few days, Ive seen ads on foxsports for Carlton AFL, The Dragons RED V promotion and even think I saw one for the storm, all promoting thier 2011 memberships. Ads for The A-League final targeted purely at brisbane residents, but I never see anything from the tigers. I know I live in victoria, but foxsports is a national feed. Do the tigers advertise thier membership packages at all?

When the members pack eventually arrived it wasnt complete. Im not sure, but I think that some members are yet to recieve thier members card. Happy to be corrected on this one. The members logo has the claws missing. Why would you want to have a brand and a logo that is instantly recogniseable, then change a vital part?? Does not make sence to me. It looks like it was forgotten and no one picked up on it untill it was too late.

we have crowds of 14,000 plus, 10,000 members should be a walk up no brainer. Somehow i feel the front office at the tigers is still struggling to connect with its marketplace

Raiders have been advertising on TV too.

Im still waiting on my members kit, going on 3 months late now, time and again Im told someone will call me back, they never do, they dont give a stuff. They got my money, thats all they want it seems.

Defacing the logo is criminal, the clothing and players gear looks like 80's crap....plenty of offield probs at Concord

We're easily the worst in the membership department. Souths have 18k total and will end up well over 10k ticketed. And we're claiming 3 game memberships as ticketed. Basically, we suck.

the 6.3k is from a week or so ago I believe, probably up around 6.7k now. We have battle of the west or whatever they call it in a week or so, where we should sign up another 1000-1200 members, but we will fall well short or the 10k target. Our 2010 figure was around 6500, did they really think they were going to get 50% more members this year without promoting it at all. Apart from being handed a brochure at the Dragons/Tigers prelim last year I haven't seen Tigers membership promoted at all for 2011. How the hell are you going to attract another 3500 members without promoting it at all, although it may be different in Tigers heartlands.

Our membership department sucks.

A friend of mine who has been a die hard fan for probably 40 years is still waiting for a return call from June last year regarding a simple membership question. She called again recently, but still call back. Needless to say, she hasnt renewed her membership for 2011.

Last year when I signed up, I bought a ticket to the Foundation Cup and the Forever Brothers book on top of the membership. Over t he space of 2 months, my membership pack, the ticket and the book all arrived separately by either courier of express post satchel. Great use of money right there :sarcasm:

Its really no wonder that our numbers are so low.

I've got none of my membership stuff, so I rang up and cancelled it.

They refunded me within 3 days.

Why is it they can refund me directly within 3 days, but a simple little membership package can't be delivered in full within 3 months?

f**king pathetic. First year I haven't been a member since 2004. I'll still support the club of course, but a part of me wonders why when the club doesn't seem to give a f**k about us fans sometimes.

Unfortunately it might take more of people voting with their feet before they get their act together. Quite sad really.

I organised 4 memberships in January (3 people renewing and 1 extra) one of my mates who has been a member the last 2 years didn't receive anything in the mail and called last week to see why. He was told that they didn't receive his direct debit form (which he had faxed) and that he didn't have a seat for this season.

It is amateur hour with this place the girl at the Tigers had all the names and me as a point of contact and decided against calling to advise there was an issue with one of the memberships?????? I'm unsure whether I can cancel them all now but I will be looking into it.

Also completely agree on the member pack, are they kidding giving the reject merchandise to members year after year it is embarrasing. They need to take a look at the Dragons Marketing department to obtain a clue as to how to look after their members.

They will always struggle to get big numbers due to many factors. The lack of quality members seating is the main one. People want a decent seat if they are going to part with big dollars and Iam afraid at both Cambo and especially LO their are not to many good seats. This year I took out the gold package for both Cambo and LO (didnt worry about the SFS as I have members access), for 8 games it cost me 300 bucks and all I could get was concourse seating. Now thats over 35 bucks a game. Last year these seats were in the silver package. Iam not that fussed on the merchandising,I would rather the club give all members a 15% discount on their stuff and do away with the supporter packs, although Iam sure the kids love them.

My main reason for taking out membership each year, 1 to do my little bit for the club and 2--if we do make the big games at the end of the season it gives me a walk up start for tickets

our numbers are so low because our prices are so high.

Ultimate Bronze gets you all home games as well as the members kit (hat, scarf 2x$20 vouchers which can only be used on items over $50) Costs $220

Sydney Roosters have all home games bronze with no kit for $99

Bulldogs have all home games for $95

Eels have all home games for $175

Dragons have all home games for $140

Panthers have all home games $180 ( plus hat, keyring, bag and 10% off all merchandise)

Rabbitohs get all home games + 2 away games + all trial games for $210 (plus cap, keyring, newsltter, 10% discount on all merchandise, discount on ANZ stadium food and drink)

Quite clearly tigers are ripping us off and these prices deter supporters

you'd think, given that official online access to all of Wests Tigers competitors (ie - other clubs) can all be located from the one website, that they would check what other clubs are doing and tried to match it a bit.

I mean, thats what smart people do.

When I first started this thread, I thought that people would either tell me to shut up, or I would hear other peoples positive experiences. The fact that thier are so many people either wanting a refund, or not recieving goods as promised is evidence of the systematic lack of understanding and connection with thier target group.

the bulldogs seem to have nailed thier membership drive and packages for 2011. The offer a family GA Membership including tickets for a staggering $220 for the whole season. Thats less than $19 per game! Our bronze membership is the same price as that and its only for 1 person. The dogs are aiming for 13,000 members by the start of round 1.

Tigers memberships are clearly overpriced, poor quality and pathetically dispatched.

Thats a cross in every box.

It's pretty obvious that the Tigers don't really think too highly of season memberships.

Another factor perhaps is suburban home grounds. If a side has a high capacity ground they could sell membership cheaper and have dearer walk up ticket prices on gameday., with us the club maybe feels it will have full walk up crowds so why sell them tickets cheaper as a member deal.. does that make sense? regardless it doesnt exuse the bad customer service.

I hope some Tigers fans are emailing this thread to your marketing department. Looks like a pretty woeful effort from them
