Patterson must be doing something to the coaching staff or something because I don't know how he can go from being dropped from the side to making a return in 2 weeks into the starting prop position

We will loose by 20 if Patterson plays!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanx MT for the team....... Glad to see reynolds given another shot at 5/8. Wilson in the 3 jersey is a good move, i expect him to do well. Surprised that patto is starting, i would've thought we'd keep Gibbs as the starter. Im also glad Sheens has kept Harrison and Farah this week too, its VERY inexperienced bench.

Mate it is a Very inexpereinced bench and to be honest with the injuries we have at the moment that is to be expected.

Hopefully this week Reynolds can show you guys what I have been talking about for such a long time and put in a positive display ;-)

Galea getting dropped shows what I have been saying since he came back into the top squad he really isn't match fit yet and needs a few good weeks in PL before even contemplating making his way back into the top grade sqaud!

On Patterson I really don't understand how he manages to pop up into a first grade squad especially with players like Lima (sure he has a broken nose but he can still play like most do) Small or even Simpkins can run harder and would cause more of an effect than the Pillow Patterson provides for the oposition!!!!!

Yeah looking at the squad, the bench goes 14, 15, 16, 18..........no 17 which if the usual trend continues, that means there'll be a late change to the side. My guess is Maybe Patto will make way for someone, and Gibbs will start?

Good to see bronson getting another go. If you start bryce, drop patterson and blood a prop that would be my side. I don't care who it is, but patterson has shown for a long time he can't hack it.

Yeah Patto is a mystery to me.....He does work very hard during the game but he just doesnt make the impact props should, i do trust sheens judgement with him but i just feel that maybe his time is further down the track, not now.

I like the look of that side. Obviously with the exception of Patto. Although, he does fit in with Sheen's game plan of having quick play-the-balls.

Looking at how many NRL games our other prop options have under their names apart from Skando that could be the reason behind naming Patterson in a starting role especially against a forward pack that the Dragons have.

You could also be right Tigerpete going on Sheens recent form there could very well be a late inclusion to the side - I will be keeping a look out at the Balmain game for any withdrawals on Firday afternoon ;-)

patto wil run forward atleast he isn't in the side for no reason i know he doesn't do much but he isn't in the game plan v's dragons for nothing .. maybe as a decoy for the late inclusion but stil not there for nothing

I'm glad to see Reynolds back in the starting side. I hope he has a blinder and then keeps the 5/8 spot.

umm i think patterson is ragged more than he deserves .to me i see a improvement each week but with skando being the only true prop on the field at the moment he struggles as gibbs does to.
i thought it was a good move to start gibbs off the bench this week and then come out against staints 2nd forward pack and maintain some go forward .
if patterson was coming on after a skando, patten, lafrachi start the guy might be looked at in a different light ,umm 8)

Yes there is a reason for the sudden change in selection It's called a "MASSIVE INJURY TOLL"

Good to see Benny at 5/8.If he and Prince decide to take on the line a bit more we could cause some trouble.Im guessing Patto is in there for his defence which is just as solid as anyone in the team.

it should be a good game..

patto will go alright in the softening up period of the first 20 mins and then when gibbs comes on he'll be able to do what he does best..
it's a good halves combo and if reynolds can get rid of his problem with the dropsies then they will go well together..
farah coming on for fitzy is a wasted position on the bench he should be starting.. but again when the dragons are tiring and farah comes on he'll be able to rip in
the rest of the team will go well.. and the backline whilst not our best will go well.. i like wilson as a centre and hopefully he can score a try or two.. or can set up moodie for a couple..
too bad both our wingers cant be firing and score tries at random.. it'd make us more dangerous..

i can see a reason to put patto in the team and that is his mistake free football.
in his 2 games this season he has made 55 tackles for only 1 miss.
he has made no handling errors, and i don't think he has given away a penalty either.he also did this last year as well.
so please acknowledge that he does get the basics right people.he is not totally useless like you all make out.
considering how inconsistent we have been after a win,i could understand sheens putting him in the team.
but in saying all that,he does lack the one basic that a prop must have and that is go forward.so i can understand for that reason why people would prefer another option.
if only he could improve his go forward he could be a really valuable asset to the team.the other thing is that sheens thinks patto should offload alot more, but so far we have not seen this from him,and i get the feeling he is too scared to chance his arm and take a risk or 2,seeing as it is his mistake free football that allows him to play first grade.
patto, you are going to have to do something in attack if you want to continue to play first grade though.

with there being no no.17 in the team i wouldn't be surprised to see small or lima in the team and surely one of them deserves a crack at first grade although the inexperience in our squad is probably going against them getting a go.

i am also wondering if reynolds had an injury last week.it seems odd to me that he was dropped last week and then comes straight back into the team the following week without a game in pl.
either way i am glad to see reynolds back at 5/8,but would prefer he run at the line a little less and prince to run it a little more.hopefully sheens will give this combo some time so we can go into the tougher games after the manly game with some cohesion.reynolds has the spark we need,he just needs to find some consistency over the next few weeks to cement his spot.

i do love our bench though, although there is plenty of inexperience, our enthusiasm could end up being what gets us home over the dragons.plenty of young gamebreaking talent just waiting to be unleashed.
i just wish benji was there to put a big step on withers to seal the victory.

hopefully tony archer is a fan of the tigers in his first match with the tigers as ref and please, please, please,no mick stone for video ref.

dragons to win it
34-8

I think Sheens has gone with experience in putting Paterson in the side. I don't think it is a bad move at all when you look at the bench and you are lucky to have 30 games between them, i don't think it is a good time to blood an inexperienced prop when you have the option of someone who has played the best part of a season in the side....especially against the experienced Dragons pack.

I agree with Bonstonker in saying that Patterson gets the 1%er's right, quick play the balls, good defensive workrate and no penalties.
Then you have Bryce Gibbs, who on one hand has a great future ahead of him and is a very exciting footballer, but on the other hand he is the most heavily penalised player in the club. With such an inexperienced side, you don't want to be giving too many penalties away in the early stages of the game and let Saints get a roll on.....

I think it is an excellent looking side, injuries or no injuries, we will be competitive with the best of them......

I still don't like patterson in the side

I'd use the chance to blood jaime small (inexperienced yes and its a huge step up to first grade but he has consistantly (over two and a bit years) shown a high work rate in attack and defence, low mistakes and missed tackles, an ability to gain metres and almost no penalties conceeded.

It may turn out that his lack of size makes him less effective in first grade - we won't know until he is given a chance - but I don't see him as the type to all of a sudden start making stupid mistakes either so I would be confident that, at the very least, we wouldn't lose by putting him in.

Despite that though I'm very happy with the side in general - not too many changes which is good but Reynolds deserved another chance at 5/8th and our bench may be (very) inexperienced but it is also enthusiastic and hugely talented - Robbie, Bronson, Bryce and Dene are among the most exciting young players in the club and all will have some impact when they take the field...saints wont know what hit them :)

Yeah...I must admit when I saw Patto I shuddered.Reason being that MY major concern is lack og go forward, and as I see it he adds to this problem. What is even more frustrating is that we have blokes who make metres in the lower grades but........

Im very happy with the younguns on the bench.Gibbs has the best go forward in the club, and he is a workhorse too.Farah, well we know he is going to get better. And hopefully Bronson will get some more game time this week. And how about the Halatau?????He is a machine.I love this kid,I just wish he was 6'3,he would be a hell of a front rower as he is a kamikaze.

One question though. We all know know that Sheensy NEVER picks the team on Tuesday that plays on the weekend.Who is no17,and who is going to miss out??
