At the time his batting record was forgivable because he was replacing Wade but his deficiencies are constantly exposed because of our batting problems.

He's a poor captain tactically. But who replaces him atm?

We've still got a few months to live in the house of Paine unfortunately.

Looking to the future, surely Carey is next in line. I know it’s one day cricket but he’s averaging 40 after 29 games. Out of boredom I looked at the records of current shield keepers. Obviously they differ in experience but they’ve all played 20+ first class matches.

Sa - Alex Carey 31.3 - 2 F/C 100’s
Vic - Seb Gotch 31.8 - 0 F/C 100’s
Nsw - Peter Nevill 37 - 10 F/C 100’s
Qld - Jimmy Peirson - 28.7 - 0 First Class 100’s
Tas - Tim Paine 28.7 - 1 F/C 100’s
Wa - Josh Inglis 28.7 - 0 F/C 100’s

Nevill averaged 22 in test cricket after 17 games.

Handscomb keeping makes Wade look like Rod Marsh with the gloves! He’s abysmal

We need a specialist glove man, we tried a make shift keeper (Scissorhands) and he was a dud. Handscomb would have to keep for long spells up to the stumps when the Goat is bowling and that could cost us dearly.

Carey seems to be the only alternative atm

He was very poor today. Some bizzare fields were set. It just felt way to reactive. This was a test we should have won.

If we draw/lose in Brisbane then his position will probably be in serious question. A series win will probably see him get a ride to the next home Summer.
