They have the majority now so whatever is stopping them doing that now would still be there.I get where you are coming from. But wouldn’t there be a temptation to get rid of the Tigers moniker if they get rid of the Balmain members on the board?

they floated a plan to rename it back to the Magpies in 2014. Suddenly they ended up with 5k crowds at LeichhardtI get where you are coming from. But wouldn’t there be a temptation to get rid of the Tigers moniker if they get rid of the Balmain members on the board?
I don't think that ever happenedthey floated a plan to rename it back to the Magpies in 2014. Suddenly they ended up with 5k crowds at Leichhardt
I remember Mark Geyer (I think) talking about it at the time. But the bad crowds that year had more to do with the atrocious performances.I don't think that ever happened
Yeah, no one at the club ever floated the idea.I remember Mark Geyer (I think) talking about it at the time. But the bad crowds that year had more to do with the atrocious performances.
knowing my beloved tigpies they probably leaked it themselvesWests Ashfield CEO Simon Cook says Tigers name won't be replaced by Magpies
Wests Ashfied chief executive Simon Cook has guaranteed that there will be no attempt by his organisation to change the Wests Tigers name to the Magpies. He also scotched speculation the team would relocate to Perth.www.google.com
Bulldogs could cover that whole region. For those thinking Tigers should move to Perth, what are your thoughts for the future of the Macarthur region? Does it get taken over/shared by other Sydney clubs or just abandoned for the AFL?
AFL is taking over nothing in Sydney except for a few former union heartland areas. Since 1999, the Macarthur region has been splintered between different clubs, it has no tribalism whatsoever. If the crowd at the Tigers-Warriors game earlier in C-town this year is anything to go by most people out there follow the Vodafone team. For those thinking Tigers should move to Perth, what are your thoughts for the future of the Macarthur region? Tigers should just commit to play all home games at Commbank. It's a direct train ride from most of the southwest, and it's not that far from the Inner West as well. I was always opposed to groundsharing and in favour of suburban grounds in the past but the last few years of the club clinging onto yesteryear have made me realise it's time to move forward.Bulldogs could cover that whole region.
Pointless discussion though, no one is getting moved anywhere regardless of how shthouse they are going.
That's the thing, the days of people being born, living and dying in the same suburb are long gone. Fans of clubs live and move all over the city these days, in fact all over the country. That's why central easy to get to stadiums are where all sensible cities are moving to.AFL is taking over nothing in Sydney except for a few former union heartland areas. The Storm target Kiwis, Queenslanders and Islanders living in Melbourne for their fans. Their attempts to grow the Victoria died in 2002 when Nine got the AFL rights and put Storm games at 12:30am. The Storm succeed as they have a lot of support in Queensland, New Zealand, the Pacific Islands and PNG. They're probably the only successful international brand in the NRL.It is also the reason why it is stupid to hear people argue that you can’t put sides in certain parts of Australia. We can’t put a side in Perth or Melbourne etc because they only follow AFL, notwithstanding the fact that a large amount of people living in those cities weren’t born and raised there.
We have even more east coasters in perth! Everyone I meet is from Sydney or regional Qlnd it seems. The number of white Bunnies on utes is overwhelming. The Storm target Kiwis, Queenslanders and Islanders living in Melbourne for their fans. As far as Perth goes it has a lot of Kiwis/Islanders and could probably succeed without local media coverage. Even if the crowds were the same as the Force now it would be a success.

I didn’t necessarily think the AFL would put a new club in Macarthur but the area could become a nursery given the money they could chuck at it.AFL is taking over nothing in Sydney except for a few former union heartland areas.
