Timmins a crock

Shaun Timmins has retired due to a knee injury. The GC Titans were talking to him but asked for a medical report before they did so. A surgeon told him his knee is no good so with no SL club and no Titans he has hung up his boots. Makes you wonder what would have happened if Cas had stayed up and he'd arrived for a full year of Super League. His knee wasn't good enough for a year of NRL but was okay for SL apparently. Goes to show signing old injury prone players like him is something SL clubs should not be doing. Cas may have gone down but they might have dodged a bullet of sorts. They, and other SL clubs, are going to continue to battle in the top flight when they sign players like this.

Makes you wonder if Cas bothered to give him a medical or simply took his agent's word as proof of fitness.

Also, it makes Timmins look like a bit of a sh*t, tbh. He was prepared to move over here, relocate his family, take a heap of cash from a club desperately looking for people like him to help them progress on the field - and all the time he knew his knee was buggered and not up to playing pro RL. Nice!

To be fair he didn't know he could no longer play until the last couple of days when he was given that diagnosis by a doctor. After the deal with Castleford fell through he proceeded to begin negotiations with the Gold Coast Titans with the intention of continuing to play in the NRL.

It was only when he recently (as in the last couple of days) consulted with a surgeon that he was told that his knees were so bad he could no longer play and he was forced to retire.
