LUi looks to be a more creative halfack then Moltzen for mine. I think he is more of a natural in the position and deserves to start at NUmber 7. Moltzen is a gun young player, however coming from nearly 12 months out, straight back into the 7 of a team that went 1 point from the grand final, not for mine.

Lui is more of a natural in the position? Moltzen was a junior kangaroo halfback, Lui never wore the jumper before last season.

the love of moltzen and disregard of lui is quiet startling for me.

im the first to admit moltzen is a hugely talented footballer. however he is pretty much exclusively a runner of the football and more a 'off the cusp' type player. he doesnt really set up his outside backs, have a good short kicking game or organise his forwards. he is a very sound defender and imo one of the most destructive broken field runners in the game. he has blinding acceleration and brilliant footwork, he can step off both feet equally as well.

however lui's contribution to our semi final run last year can't be understated. he is the best young ball player i have EVER seen. he picks out his ball runners perfectly and has the uncanny ability to draw in two or three players to open up a hole. late last year he could be seen screaming instructions at the team and in the opposition 20 was calling a lot of plays. he seems to be able to stick a game plan very well and fits into a team structure perfectly. he has a cool head and doesn't seem to try the impossible play. his running game is developing nicely, he doesnt take the line on very often however when he does he generally breaks it. admittedly his defence is dreadful and this has to be worked on immediately. he makes prince and soward look like dallas johnson.

they really couldnt be any more different halves if they tried. personally i cant see how lui could be replaced from the 7 to start the year after his end to the season. moltzen's utility value could really be to the determent of his career as i have no doubts he is a state of origin player waiting to happen, however he really needs to settle on a position. moltzen will no doubt be in the 17 no matter what, however lui really has to be 6, 7 or nothing.

whatever happens we are extremely fortunate to have 3 absolute quality first grade halves in our club, alot of clubs dont even have 2.

Regarding Lui's ability; Farah, Marshall and Payten have all said in open forums he is one of the most talented footballers they have seen. As they are training and working side by side with him I don't think footballers of their stature are going to risk their credibility with the public by making rash statements. I put some faith in their ability to rate a good player.
