this Post is on Manly's website as follows

How sick can people be?The gutless vermin who called himself Blast posted a message this morning that former great winger Tom Mooney had past away from a heart attack. For three hours I chased down his family to try and confirm the message.Thankfully Tommy in his own words says he is as "fit as a trout" and will be down with his wife Cath for Ken Arthurson's farewell on December 2.I can't believe people could stoop so low as to post a person's death. What sick individual could do such a thing? We have had enough genuine mourning this year with the passing of of greats like Bob Batty and Roy Bull.We didn't need a false alarm. My view is that it is the last straw and that the BB should be shut down. However,I feel for the majority who enjoy the healthy discussion and I am always reluctant to give in to the idiot minority groups. To those people who gave genuine messages of concern ....I know how you feel.
But our mate is fine and I apologise to the north coast police who kindly went around to Tom's home to confirm or deny the message.I'm off for a scotch. - Media

I'm shocked, it was only last week that me and my mates talked about this bloke, cause my mates' father is a manly supporter and he bumped into him one night. He told me Tom was good for a chat and was doing well in his life up the north coast, I cant remember all what he said but he did tell me that Tom scored a try in the 78 Grand Final the match before the replay.

RIP Tom.

Bloody Hell!

I watched a lot of Tom Mooney in those famous fibro/silvertail clashes as a kid.

Great player, bit like Mick Hancock in a way...always gave it his all.

Condolences to the Mooney family.

Tom is alive and well. Some unknown idiot posted of his death on manlys official website as some sort of joke. Hillarious. Peter Peters then made numerous phone calls to try and confirm the story and offer condolences to his family. He ended up talking to Tom himself.

I only really remember him from footy cards when i was a little 'un - particularly as he looked for ALL the world like a mate of mine's dad, and so - this kid briefly spread the rumour at school that he WAS in fact his dad...a rumour which was quickly dispelled when we actually SPOKE to his dad and asked him if it was true not long afterwards!....Ahhh the strange little things u remember!

This is NOT funny though...and NOT clever, and well - thankfully reports of his demise would seemingly be very premature!...WHY do that!??? I just dont understand some people... :?
