Great win! A couple domestic players really made an impact with Preistly and Odderfahl each getting a try and Garvey getting an assist.

All my buddies who got to watch the game loved it. Most of the sports fan over here will get behind any team playing any sport as long as they are wearing a USA jersey. Just wish the game could get some love on ESPN or something like that!

Anyone know if the Australian in NYC ( New York Knights home bar) will be showing any of the games?

The captain Joseph Paulo scored two tries and the United States won its Rugby League World Cup debut, beating the Cook Islands, 32-20, in Bristol, England.

Offerdahl and Priestly play in the AMNRL but are of Australian origin. Garvey plays with the Ipswich Jets in Queensland but is American and was formerly with the Aston Bulls

I found myself cheering for the Septics Tanks, they really impressed me and actually surprised me with their play. Priestly and Paulo controlled the game well and they weren't playing mugs either, the CI side had a lot of NRL boys in their side.

Garvey is a reason why developing the game at grassroots is so important in the US, they have such a pool of great athletes and if we can get some playing the game at youth level, they can learn the nuances of RL from an early age rather than learning the game as adults.

Has David Niu been seen at the WC yet? I can't recall seeing him whenever the TV cameras were on the USA bench.
