Too Cocky

This is directed to SOME of our supportors who like to get in the NRL forum and talk up how good certain players or our team is going, maybe it would be better if you waited until we achieve more than a few wins on the trot before you go gloating.

What i saw today only reaffirmed my opinion from earlier in the year, if we make the 8 it should be classed as successful, we are a long , long way from being anything other than the 8th team, Saints positon on the table before today doesn't give a real indication of how good they are.

Here, here.

While I have been delighted at the form shown by the Tigers so far this year, there is no doubt that we have overacheived.

There is still a huge gulf between us and the Top 4 teams in this comp and today only proved that. We have the nucleus of a good team now and we are doing the simple things right which is good. But we really lack that touch of class that the Roosters/Dogs/Dragons/Broncos have....unfortunately, we are still looking for our marquee player...

Hey kid , get on here and tell us whats gunna happen before the event.
Not after a 50 point loss.

Up until todays loss the boys have been having a dig.
Our defence was the third best in the comp , and our attack is better than any other time in our short history .

Tim Sheens has to shoulder most of todays blame , 4 very poor selections cost us big time .
Now tell me honestly , did you pick the Tigers to win today .
I got 6 out of 7 because the Warriors got beat ....

Most supporters who were cocky before the game, were so on the proviso that the original selected team took the field. For whatever reason,it ended up being a fairly different line up.In saying that the Dragons played great and most likely wouldn`t have been beat under any circunstances, however League is a funny game and the littlest things can make a huge difference!Todays team was a VERY experienced line up,but I believe it lacked a lot of self belief, youthful exuberance and enthusiasm!!!

not to mention go-forward. Browny has drilled his team to play the ball as quick as possible as to get the opposition on the back foot which worked 10-fold in the dragons favour against us today. We didnt show the same amount of urgency as the other lot and therefore could never get our heads into the game.

I agree--but is their a team that plays the ball slower than our mob--skando i love him-but it takes him longer to play the ball after a hit up than me to drink a skooner

Except for the fact i have been away for a week till yesterday i would have (and did to some mates) predict Saints would roll us. Them and Melbourne both play speed games in the forwards that for some reason causes us enormous trouble in that we can't stop the roll on. The topic i raised has nothing to do with looking into crystal balls and predicting the future, it was about getting too cocky. Anyone who has supported the joint venture from the start will remember we have been in the top 2 and 3 of the halfway mark of the season and fell away to miss the 8. Regardless of next weeks results traci, a look at the draw for the rest of the season will show we have a tough run, with plenty of teams up our ring.

Nathan Brown is a masterful tactition and he exploited the same weaknesses that he did in the d-header game earlier in the year. Simply his side had a smarter game plan than us. Still the selection of Graham ahead of say a Fulton or Harrison was a little mystifying, because the latter 2 have made good progress off the bench. Graham was a better player before he went to the pommy league, it seems to have killed his career unfortunately.

AS for C0ckyness in our supporters, maybe to an extent but name a side whose fans arent? We had every right to feel confindent yesterday, 4 wins in five, loss to a red hot Matt Orford led melbourne, had beaten "better" teams like the Bulldogs, simply we were smashed by a saints side who on days like that wouldnt lose to any side, guaranteed!

As fans of the Wests tigers, and formerly of Wests and Balmain we deserve to have a little success, a feeling of being proud of our team, proud of our juniors and hopeful of some success. There is nothing wrong with being optimistic, there has been plenty of dark times let us have something to be hopeful of.
