TOOHEYS BEER

I usually prefer a bourbon and coke, however the other weekend I had a couple of Tooheys New beers which have those metal twist tops on them.

Under the twist top as MOST of you would know is a trivia question.

I was very surprised when I opened my beer and read my question which was " What were the Newtown Rugby league team known as prior to being named the Jets. " A- ( obviously ) " The Bluebags. "

It was the only beer in the case which had this question on it.

I hung onto the lid as a keepsake.

If there are any supporters out there who drink Tooheys New, look under your lids. I'm sure it could not be the only one.

Good to see that Tooheys regard the Bluebags as a true Aussie icon.
I wondered how the rest of the populace would go in answering the question correctly these days.

I guess some of the younger ones may have had a problem.

However I'm sure the lid may generate some reminiscent Bluebag
conversations over a cold one.

Ambush marketing. Wonder how much Lion Nathan would give us to put Tooheys labels all over our jerseys in the VB Premier League? There's an opportunity in there for someone. Happens all the time in sport.

I send them an email saying how many people keep stopping me to talk about the Jets question and no other, step 1 done perhaps they need some more encouragement via their site to make them think what a good idea. I did not even mention sponsorship but just chipping away.

Ambush marketing is not new to this club. We were sponsored by Powers Beer while competing in the Tooheys Metro Cup.

Have also seen a six pack of Jim Beam and cola with a picture of Ben COOK running with the ball in full Newtown kit playing in the Jim Beam cup.

I bought the bourbon whilst on the Gold Coast QLD.
