TOOL vs A Perfect Circle

I have been a TOOL fan for quite some time. I Think they peaked with Aenima, an album which I regard as a masterpiece. I was a bit dissapointed with Lateralus, certainly no where near Aenima, but I did have very high expectations. A Perfect Circle on the other hand seem a lot weaker musically in my opinion. Apart from 'Judith' and 'The Ousider', they haven't releases anything to my liking. Their music seems bland and not nearly as catchy as Tool's stuff.

So as both bands are headed by the same frontman, who do you think is better, or do you think they both sound the same?

Tool by the length of the straight and THEN some.

Perfect Circle are pretty average imo. First album wasn't too bad the subsequent releases were very ordinary imo.

I've never seen a band butcher a song quite to the extent that a Perfect Circle managed to do butcher Lennon's Imagine. Or what they did to What's going on for that matter. Emotive was awfully poor.

Tool. Aenima is a great album.

EA it's one of my favourites!

Have you heard Lateralus? I reckon there are a couple of great tracks on it but a fair bit of mediocrity!

Tool. Can't imagine anyone picking APC *pun*

But I loved Lateralus. Awesome album, I put it up there with Aenima easily. In fact I spent probably the majority of 2003 trying to analyse Tool lyrics. That was fun...

They're bloody lazy bastards eh? When's this freaking album coming out?

By the way, I like APC also. Have seen them a couple of times but I picked up 'Emotive' the other week (waiting till it was down to $10) and well, what a piece of crap...

I don't see what catchy has to do with it - the last thing I want to listen to is catchy music - but yes I'd put Tool ahead. I actually enjoy A Perfect Circle and believe both of their albums (covers album not included) are excellent, but Tool win if for no other reason than the existsence of Danny Carey. Freak.

And yes, Aenema is their masterpiece

Agree, I was a bit disappointed but after a few listens it grew on me a bit.

The first Tool song I ever heard was forty six & two, blew me away so I got the album and I give it a run a fair bit still.

Tool by a long way. Been a fan since 'Undertow', Aenima is a fantastic album.

Really hoping they aren't announced for BDO for the 2nd list of bands (I dont have tix for Sydney...)
