Mark Tookey is in town next week to take his place in the Hay Magpies line up against Lake Cargelligo at the Park Oval.
Tookey will be trying to emulate the feats of previous Celebrities David Furner, Snoopy Collins, Andrew McFadden, Gary Belcher and Darren Smith and keep his team unbeaten in a "Pie in the Sky" Challenge.
The town is buzzing and another bumper crowd is anticipated....

Toooooooookeeeeey........Tooooooooookeeeey...Tooooookeeey.

135 kgs of Tookey will hit the ground running at the Hay Park Oval tomorrow. Tooks had a training run this arvo and is chomping at the bit for a start.
Have organised supporter training for tonight (Sportsman Night) and tomorrow morning at the Park Grandstand to get the fans into the Tooooooooooooooookeeeeey catch cry mode.
Go you good thing....the town is buzzzzzzzzzzzzzing with Toookeeey Mania.

He was terrific at the Sportsman's Night last night. I'm just going to pick him and his wife Lisa up and take them to the Park. Tooks is going to present the jumpers to the Under 16 team..Another terrific Ambassador for Rugby League.
BTW we play unlimited interchang out here. He is REALLY looking forward to the game.
Tooooooooooooooooookeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey.

What's the weather like down there today Pete?

Sunny up here - I hope there's a shady side of the field for Tooks to cause havoc!

Hay won 38-30 in overcast conditions. Another big crowd and Tooks didn't let them down Scored a great try carting five defenders, and produced a good effort in defence.....and you bet, we had the Tooooooooookeeeeeeeeey cry going very well. Another successful Pie in the Sky weekend..

 The Riverina Regional Manager for the CRL at the game. He absolutely loved the concept. And the opponents today enjoyed the experience of playing against Tooooooooooks.
His football boots were auctioned off and raised close to $400.
2009 will feature Simon Woolford and hopefully another Big name...Cliffy Lyons perhaps!!!.
I had an eight page preview feature on the match as a wrap around for the local paper. Full colour. Went off a treat...Great Publicity for the game, and I'll bet the match attracted the biggest crowd in Riverina Rugby League this weekend, although I haven't seen the gate figures yet. It wasn't as big a crowd as 2007 when we had Gary Belcher and Darren Smith..but the team played Griffith that game, and they had a lot more supporters make the 160 km (one way trip), than Lakes supporters (220 km one way trip) for the game.
They love their Rugby League out here...and are doing it for themselves without too much encouragement or support from hierachy at the moment. Hopefully, the Regional Manager may be able to get the upper echelon to give the code some encouragement in this the Centenary year..Encouragment rather than negativity..
We'll wait and see.....
Toooooooooookeeeeeeeeeeeey. What a LEGEND.

Thanks Suity.
I have had a great three days. Friday, Saturday and Sunday..Had a belly full each day..I should be doing my match reports for the local Union and League..but I can't be bothered atm. Deadline is lunchtime tomorrow, so I'll do them in the morning.
sh*t Tooks was great value. He and his wife Lisa had a great time down here, and we are so lucky that the Magpies Club has a 'great feel' about it, and enjoy making visiting teams, supporters and celebrities welcome. Sport is still sport, and blokes like Tooks, and his unselfish attitude, make it worthwhile.
Toooooookeeeeeeeeeeey (I'm half pissed -)
