Great win to start the journey.
Was good to see some season ticket holders from Canada make the trip for the game too.

A review of Saturday's action in rugby league's Championship, as Toronto Wolfpack claimed a 76-0 victory over London Skolars.

Former New Zealand international FuiFui MoiMoi scored a hat-trick as rugby league trailblazers Toronto enjoyed their first game in the English league system.

The battering-ram forward - sent off in the mud at amateurs Siddal in the Challenge Cup last week - crossed for a treble as London Skolars were crushed 76-0 in the capital.

The pioneering Canadian side are competing in Championship 1 this season, playing their games in blocks either side of the Atlantic.

It is widely thought that the squad Paul Rowley has at his disposal could compete at the top end of the Championship, if not the bottom half of the Super League.

However, they have to prove it against the likes of the Skolars, Gloucester and York and did so in style at the first time of asking.

MoiMoi - the biggest name on the Skolars' books - was one of a number of stand-out performers in a 13-try rout.

Craig Hall kicked 12 goals and tagged a try of his own while the likes of Jonny Pownall (two), Liam Kay (two), Bob Beswick and Quentin Laulu-Togaga'e also went in.

The Wolfpack head to Canada for their next three fixtures, the ambitious outfit paying the travel costs of opponents Whitehaven, Keighley and Doncaster.

Not sure where they ge this info from. Toronto don't play in Canada until early May when they entertain Oxford.

Yeah that's just plain wrong, they're also not in the Championship as claimed nor 'Championship 1', which hasn't existed for years, nor does Moimoi play for Skolars. Awful journalism as usual for British RL.

They were pretty impressive, actually way too good for this level of competition.

I had a feeling Fui was going to get a hatrick, thought he had a fourth all but lined up.

Gives huge weight to the argument made pre-season for why they have to waste a year in this league. Granted the Skolars aren't tough opposition but still. Swap them with Bradford 3.

We are where we are. Rightly or wrongly Toronto will have to work their way through the divisions. It will be (or should be) the same for any new club wanting to enter the English pro/semi pro system. Besides, it's a chance for some of the L1 teams to make a few extra pounds when the Wolfpack are in town.

Some of these "journalists" couldn't spell research let alone understand what it means.

TW had an overwhelming victory but now, hopefully, the NA/Jamaican players on the squad may get more game time than they might otherwise have expected this season.

I would hope they'll rotate their best players and have them do promotional work in Canada when not playing. That way North Americans can get experience and the stars can be well rested for a good run in the Challenge Cup.

Winning league 1 is pretty much a given barring a major choke, but a deep run in the Cup could really make a statement abd draw some publicity.
