I'm a fan of neither club. First and foremost I am a fan of the game and then a Huddersfield supporter, and FWIW I'm supporting Salford's inclusion.
Point is, that 'biggest club in the world' stuff was an absolute load of garbage. No stadium can turn a small club with average crowds into the world's biggest, Simms' plan was based on some kind of 'super casino' that was obviously never going to be built, and according to that 2004 speech at this point Salford were going to be top of Super League having won it last year, and their team would feature stars such as Craig Gower and Anthony Minichiello playing in front of 20,000 each week. I'm not even sure if they've broken land on their new stadium yet.
the stadium will still provide the revenues for the club to firstly become one of the biggest clubs in SL.
after that, well see.
they are in the right area with lots of potential.
their crowds are very good atm in NL1 and with that new ground should hit 10,000 pretty quickly.
they have said construction is on track. the land needs to sit to allow the contaminants to get out of the soil.
the richest SL clubs are leeds, wigan and then st helens. i can see salford matching them fairly easily in their new ground
they already got lots of good sponsors involved.
the new ground will be the catalyst to turn them around.
apparently your clubs gates were below 1000 at farttown and from that they are now closer to 8000.
new grounds do that and help clubs to have a stronger business, hence better playing squad
