Brilliant stuff.

Though I think the crowd figure is slightly inflated. Take a look at Coventry's twitter page, they've got photos of each grandstand on there. You be the judge.

Miguel, can you shed any light on the attitudes of Elite 1 and 2 teams?

There is an article floating around stating Toulouse received 75k for away travel, plus the League 1 teams are receiving money from the RFL for travel to Toulouse.

Additionally, apparently the Elite 1 teams (perhaps by way of the FFRXIII) are funding Toulouse in League 1? There is still a lot of hostility among Elite 1 teams and the FFRXIII/Toulouse/Zalduendo?

The UK guys might be able to shed some light on previous rumours (that haven't transpired) of Toulouse linking with Sheffield to enter the Championship?

Thanks

I'm not aware of Elite teams funding TOXIII, at least not directly or with their knowledge. It is slightly possible that the ex-Toulouse Zalduendo led FFRXIII is doing it in an opaque manner but if this ever got out there would be an open revolt and probably the end of league in France so I severely doubt it.

For those playing at home, the big division in french league, somewhat brought about by the Dragons, is between those that believe the future is in getting Toulouse into the ESL and those that believe that this will kill off what little is left of the local comp, Elite1 and 2, and a professional french league is the only hope. There are convincing arguments for both sides.

The current FFRXIII committee is firmly in the Toulouse for SL camp but they are increasingly unpopular and won't be voted back in, so the whole Toulouse project could possibly be abandoned at some point. There are musings of efforts to launch a pro comp, but we've heard these before, it's been tried before, and the economic and cultural contexts are no more favourable now than in the past, but for all intents and purposes worse. More info on this should come to light in the following months.
