The CRL have a point system for every player every year, new to the CRL system or old. It is adjusted each year depending upon experience or level reached prior to being in the CRL A club's 1st grade have a maximum amount of allocated points in their squads they can have and it is checked each week during the playing season
It is not that hard and as i said The NRL could do it by adjusted it each October for new all player contracts starting November 1.

Yes...just as good.
Anything to get realistic value of player talent in each club.
Even a fantasy league type scenario would work.
Just get the TPAs and the brown paper bags out of the equation by setting each player a value and each team a set limit of total talent.

The T.P.A’s are and have always been a blight on the game . Unfortunately it will take someone with some real seed in his bollocks to eradicate it once and for all and the current administrators of the game simply do not possess that .

Until they are completely eliminated from contracts and said contracts from ALL clubs are scrutinized thouroughly will the playing field become even and fair once again.

How to you think we have gone the past 12 months ? Better than good really in retaining and including Norman & , Hunt. In a small way we must be using a system to sign these players up similar to the Rorters but only on a small scale. Forget 3RD party

As an example Widdorp was living rent free in a near new 4 bed beach house at Bulli/Corrimal. The rental that the club is paying is over 40k per year. You can add a free car ( or 2 ) and paid holidays as well perhaps. Does the club have "sneeky money " or just another way to do the deals ?

Billion dollar TV rights...

And they cant get the fundamentals right. How many teams have been sanctioned, punished, etc over the course of the past years... ???

Its farcical, that the NRL cannot with all of its resources monitor cap figures, TPA's, and so forth. Even as late as today the Tigers are now under scrutiny for third party agreements. Not exactly a title contender of late.

Its a blight on the game we all love. It seems every year that passes, one club or more is in the headlines for breaches. Acting AFTER the fact may serve to punish those teams, but will not fix the flaws in the system.

You probably right about renting and they all do it. They can even buy a $750,000 house with a contract for $650,000. Set up companies in different names and things can end up there.
All in all there is a multitude of ways but all NRL contracts are allowed an additional up to a 100K car allowance available to the player which is not counted in the cap

The NRL should be a signatory to every player contract and every TPA. All of the knowledge regarding legal player payments would be n the NRL's possession and a simple spreadsheet would be able to keep tabs on actual totals v salary cap. Therefore, if a club is at it's limit of salary cap, the nex player contract/extension/upgrade etc. would not be approved or registered.

No more automatic salary rises in the current year, they can be included in the following year as long as the Club keeps below the cap limit.

I'd like to see the salary cap become the tool used to keep marquee players playing NRL football; a means to discourage moving to other codes.

It should also be used to promote the NRL nationally rather than a Club locally. That is why I believe TPA should be arranged by player managers in partnership with the NRL.
