Are arsenal going to pay the reported €20m for Luiz Gustavo that Golfsburg have reportedly offered? His agent has said he's prepared to go to Golfsburg and that's a huge overs for him so unless Wenger is prepared to match that figure I would say its doubtful. For all the money FCB have they're not bankrolled by a billionaire so business is business.

If they want Suarez too you're looking at close to €75m (£65m?) for two players plus wages. Unthinkable for Wenger.

Good old diaby, from the little ive seen of him, Gustavo looks like exactly what we need, but whats he been been like in the past for Bayern, is the reason he is going because Bayern already have 2 WC players in his Position?

Suarez was a media stunt, they know liverpool wont sell for 40mill, so they know they font have too pay. If Liverpool Accepted 40mill, Arsene and Ivan would shit themselves.

Isco playing at attacking mid/inside winger from what Ive seen. Not so much scoring goals, but Higuain is gone and they have one recognized world class striker in Benzema.

Ancelotti could play Ronaldo up front, but he probably wont. Benzema gets injured and youre down to Alvaro Morata/Jese. A lot of it depends on Di Maria staying though. If they sell him then Bale makes sense, but with so many players who can play that three behind the striker, Suarez always made sense for mine. If Bale comes Di Maria probably gets sold anyway though.

Ronaldo is not a centre forward. It would take so much from his game it would not be worth it. They expect big things from Morata but they could probably do with a replacement for Hig.

Im probably wrong but paying Bale a world transfer record seems to have some relation to losing out on Neymar to Barca. This is Florentino Perez after all. Hes looking to make a statement.

Suarez to Real makes a lot of sense, and if Bale wasnt around he'd already be there. Suarez ability to drift all over creates a lot of options even for devastating players like CR. Hes a playmaker in a way Higuain or Benzema never could be. Higuain is a pure finisher, Benzema a mixture leaning towards a pure finisher.

Definitely brinkmanship from Madrid.

Suarez would make sense to replace Hig but Isco already covers the positions Bale would like so it does seem like a waste of money. The only reason they would need Bale is because they know Ronaldo is not signing a new contract and wants to go back to United.

Im talking shit but I dont like the idea of two superstars who hold the ball like CR and Bale playing on opposite wings. The closest thing in world football is Robben and Ribery at your club, but even they are far less selfish players than CR/Bale.... And they both track back to apply pressure. Real already accomodate CR not tracking, and Bale is hardly known for his defensive input. You put a lot of stress on holding midfielders and full backs with ose two in the team.

They will be devastating on the counter obviously even though they already are, but its hard to see them winning the CL so exposed down the flanks.

Bale and Ronaldo need the team built around them for success.

You are right in that you have a problem when you have to build a team around two people.

Bayern have not built their team around either Robben or Ribery, so it works. They have a job to do and if they don't do it, they get dropped. Anyone who costs 80 mil or over does not get dropped.

Moyes banishes Rooney to Manchester United reserves

The wantaway striker was ordered to train away from the United first-team on Thursday as he attempts to force through a summer transfer to Chelsea

By Greg Stobart

Wayne Rooney has taken a significant step towards the Manchester United exit door after he was ordered to train with reserves by David Moyes on Thursday, Goal can reveal.

Rooney arrived for training expecting to join up with the rest of the United first-team but at 10am was told that he would be working with the reserve players.

The wantaway striker is recovering from a shoulder problem that ruled him out of Tuesday’s friendly against AIK in Stockholm, but was given no indication that he would be exiled from the first-team squad.

Sources have told Goal that Rooney appeared to be training 'normally' and was courteous and smiling as he showed no emotional reaction to the decision.

Moyes’ decision to keep Rooney away from the first-team represents a change in United’s stance towards the striker. The United boss has publicly insisted Rooney is not for sale but, privately, has been angered by the 27-year-old’s attempts to engineer a summer transfer to Chelsea.

Rooney is desperate to push through a move to the Blues, who have had two bid rejected for the 27-year-old, the latest worth nearly £30 million including add-ons.

Rooney is now ready to submit a formal transfer request as he seeks a fresh start following nine years at Old Trafford.

He believes there is no way back for him at the club and is highly unlikely to play in Rio Ferdinand’s testimonial against Sevilla on Friday or the Community Shield clash against Wigan on Sunday.

And after Moyes banished him from the first-team on Thursday, it appears increasingly likely that United will look to cash in on the England international this summer.

Isco should not be playing on the wings. He is a midfielder and playing him on the wing would hamper his development as a footballer. Lets not forget he is only 21 so best to play him where he is most comfortable.

In terms of Madrid's defence they are set with Carvajal at the back.

Madrid also need to purchase a striker in Suarez. Getting Bale might not be the best solution but a Bale/Ronaldo combo could be devastating or it could backfire and cause problems in terms of team balance. Morata could be worthwhile trying out at this point in time.

Arsenal set to be beaten by Wolfsburg to the signing of Luiz Gustavo

Wolfsburg have moved to beat Arsenal to the signature of Bayern Munich's Luiz Gustavo, with reports in Germany stating that the club have agreed a €20m (£17m) deal for the Brazil defensive midfielder.
The Arsenal manager, Arsène Wenger, who arguably did not replace Alex Song last summer following the player's departure for Barcelona, said on Saturday that he was interested in Gustavo to plug an area of weakness in his squad.
Arsenal valued the 26-year-old at around £14m but appear to have been unwilling to go much higher, allowing Wolfsburg to seize the initiative. The German club have been long-term admirers of Gustavo.
Wenger tried unsuccessfully to sign the Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Lars Bender earlier in the summer – he had an £18.5m inquiry rejected by the German club – and he had previously followed the Toulouse midfielder Etienne Capoue, bidding for him last January. Capoue is now poised to join Tottenham Hotspur for €11m.
Wenger is under increasing pressure to make eye-catching signings. His chief executive, Ivan Gazidis, said that the club have the financial firepower to compete for the very top names but so far they have signed only the France youth international striker Yaya Sanogo on a free transfer from Auxerre.

Another one bites the dust....

its just a MR, I mean what does "set to be beaten by Wolfsburg to the signing of Luiz Gustavo" actually mean.

Like most MRs, its just speculation.

I think it means "Bayern leaked the offer to the press to raise his value".

Isn't that the purpose of this thread though? To post speculation?

Its not an issue with posting the article here.

Just the article itself is like so many you see during the TW.

Just insert any players name and any club and its the same bullshit they post everyday.

€20m was always the reported fee even before Arsenlol were linked. The Voyeur apparently wanted to pay £14m the cheap merkin.

Let's hope this news is true  Lots of German media especially those close to Golfsburg saying it's done.

It means Golfsburg will sign Luiz Gustavo and not Arsenlol.

The player even confirmed interested from Arsenlol so not sure why there is discussion if they wanted him or not.

We bid 14mill, how stupid is this club,We need a director of football, anyone could see, Gustavo is what we need.

Wenger is gone at seasons end, he just CBF making the squad stronger.

Hopefully they can steal 4th place again, and get a decent Dof and manager in and finally re start.

Hopefully they re bid before the deal is sealed, but looks like hes gone though.

Not sure I understand. You're saying he's a cheap merkin for not offering the reported fee, yet on the previous page you said the fee was huge overs?

He's holding out on what, 3m because that's his evacuation? One club - before the voyeur got involved - offered €20m and voyeur reportedly won't touch that instead offering around 3-4m less so yes he's a cheap merkin. If you want decent players you have to almost pay overs, you think Bale is worth anything over £20m much less up to €100m?

And yes it's overs. Bayern went and paid a €40m release clause for the exact type of player (who does everything better and more) and relegated Gustavo to back up. That's worth €20m? Of he was getting the job done there'd be no Martinez.

Edit

But €20m is the bar that's been set and the wages have been increased Golfsburg. If voyeur wants him then pay up or go back to Ligue 2

Reports coming out of Spain that Man Utd are going after Ozil...

I've liked the look of him for awhile... And would be rapt if we could get him... But I don't think Real would be stupid enough to let him go.... He's already a great player... But he's only gonna get better IMO

Quite frankly I see a better chance of Ronaldo coming back than An Ozil transfer.

And even that's a long shot IMO...

Back to Ligue 2 it is then I guess.
