Trent Grubb - Injured or First Grade Debut

Trent Grubb's name does not appear on NYC cup team for weekend, he has been close to best performer all year, and backed up by stats in Big League, as one of the top 1 on 1 tacklers, is he injured this weekend, or has Ricky got him training with first grade and make debut this weekend, seeing him play in NYC he would be benefical without Gallen & Bird, works hard in defence and plays 80, considering this is a big step up, he might be able to handle it, Broncs have listed a NYC player in first grade squad this weekend as well

Is he the one with the Curly hair? Rangey kind of guy? If so he is injured I think. On saturday he scored two trys, both from bombs. Looked like he did a shoulder, nothing serious because he played on for most of the game, but looked uncomfortable.

Seems a bit like the Pom, not huge, but tall.

Yeah thats him jc..

he isn't overly big, hopefully a big off season with plenty of bulking up, and he will be ready next season.

What he did well was pressure recievers and dive on loose balls. Was always looking at getting into it.

I don't think he would play first grade this year. Would need a lot of bulking up, unless they switched him to centres (where he played a bit of the game anyway).

Thats him, seems like he had another good game, lets hope we have him signed for next 3 years, we may have a young quality backrower, who can play centre

Why do you have such a hard on for promoting guys from the u20's straight into firsts and expecting them to perform. It wont happen. U20's is still Jersey Flegg and is a massive step up to NRL, especially for a forward. Whatever Grubb does in the u20's he wont be doing it to the same effect in NRL. Very very few players can make that jump straight away.

tell that to the storm, broncos, eels, panthers etc..they do it and it doesnt hurt them..especially the first 2 i mentioned..its better to go from our NYC which are always in it like our first grade team..to nrl..then to go NYC (win/lose tight ones) to PL (who get demolished..smashed..lapped every week)..to nrl..

I've seen him play twice, looks the goods... there is some talent in that NYC side.

Just dont seem to be able to put it together on the field which is a worry.

Because if a player is better then the grade he is in you test him at next level not in Cobras where he will be lapped but in Firsts off the bench, you look at the team, and if he is as good was what we have give him a go, looking at the bench he would offer the same if not more then Steppa, also you live him in NYC, he dosent get a run, another team just might sign him as he will see future.

The same would go with Karl or Stapleton, so far Goodwin,Simmons & Covell have struggled maybe one of the NYC players, would have seen a chance and put in a lot more effort then what we all have seen and said since round 1
