He was asked whether they considered how souffs fans would treat skd and he said that he hoped "people deal with it with respect " and hoped rugby league is in a better state than the afl with the Goodes issue. As always his comments were measured, responsible and mature. He made no assertions of guilt or innocence simply implored people to act maturely.

He didn't in any way, shape, or form, liken booing SKD to booing Goodes. He did, however, state that he didn't think SKD would face a hostile atmosphere when someone asked him about it, and reckoned NRL fans would handle the situation well unlike AFL fans
